Is Xperia UI evolving in the right direction?
UI skins/themes in recent years:
2010: In this year the competition operated exclusively with android's default black theme, while Sony Ericsson's skin despite being appealing, it was criticised by being boring because it's always blue.
2011: In this year previous years main apperance remained, plus you could set some of the preinstalled themes (colour schemes), in turn the colours became shaded in native applications.
2012: The UI customisation is represented by the minimalistic (I would say plain and simple) textured colour backgrounds in native apps.
2013: Everithing is grey/black the theme changes the colour of just some elements:
The app launcher is moving toward being more grayish and shaded:
the same Wallpaper in 2011 and in 2013 in the app drawer

Meanwhile Samsung evolves in the opposite direction (which sadly I like more):
the app launcher in Galaxy SII (the wallpaper is heavily shaded):

However, I would be happy to see Xperia's app laucher with just a slight shading effect or with no shading at all, and I still miss after using my Xperia ray for a year the option of custimisable themes what could sometimes completely redraw you phones appearance at least in native applications, and so you can really costomise your phone. I think it wouldn't be that difficult to implement, considering that it's only a step ahead of the freely changeable wallpapers and changing between preinstalled themes. |

It wouldnt hurt Sony though.might even stop some people from buying HTC one(wishful thinking).rumors are kinda like free advertising.lol

Minimalist design like stock Android is the way to go. Plain, simple and clean. Nearly all skins manufactures have created destroy this and just make the Android experience clunky and confusing imo. |

music quality in a mobile device is heavily dependant on the ear/headphones one uses. so rather than focus on a walkman phone, Sony should release a cybershot phone. remember the quality of photos of K800 and others? the phones camera can be judged much better than sound.
the cybershot phones were quite badass(my mum still uses one!) |

I think u should stop discussing rumors so early in the thread... Rumors of phones to b launched in q3 should b discussed only 1-2 months bfore launch.
It might hurt sales of current sony devices.
Btw... By reading the comments on PA one can guess that a lot of people r actually interested in cybershot and walkman flagships. Some r also wishing for best of cybershot+walkman thrown into one... I just hope sony takes a cue from it and does smthng same...!
And is there actually anything walkman related stuff coming in q3 devices ? |
