I suppose it depends on how much of an upgrade the Z4C specs will be. It's hard to imagine a huge jump in specs, may be a new lens for the camera, slightly slimmer, a slightly bigger screen. . . .
A completely new soc (SD810) alone can be considered as a huge jump...Then there is the rumored 4GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM and that 4,7" 1080p display. |

I know back in the old SE days the Walkman brand was bigger than the Cybershot brand so a low entry Walkman device makes sense. Would be great if it has dual speakers on a budget device, would help differentiate from similar priced smartphones.

with those rumored specs the walkman xperia has to be priced way below 120USD or it's DOA. Competition is getting stronger every quarter. Meizu is rumored to release a 170USD phone with an 64-bit MediaTek SoC, 2GB RAM, LTE support and a 4.6" 1080p display |

Sony seen growth in the low-end according to the recent infographic, I seem to remember.
When was the last time Sony put a 5.0MP cam on a mid range phone? Could the above specs belong to the next low-end Xperia™ E4?

@goldenface The E3 can be found for as little as £89.99 in the UK which I think is a very good price. It did launch in my store @ £149.99 but is now less than £100, could the sudden price drop indicate that the possible leaked spec are indeed for the E4, it kind of points that way.

@goldenface
5.7mm thickness for z4 ultra and even for z4 tablet is out of the question considering the internals that sony put inside the flags, just look at this z3 teardown, the camera sensor is almost as thick as the whole phone (!): http://www.ewisetech.com/Pages/Article/125_1.aspx and don't forget that devices have chassis (!). 5.7mm is seriously not possible, not in 2015 anyway.
a surprise would be maintaining around the thickness of z3 (7.3mm) = 7mm-7mm+ for z4 and z4 ultra. that would be amazing if they can do that. i would seriously bow them. |

btw, that "an onymous xperia insider" basically say there won't be next z ultra, at least not in first half of 2015. scroll down to his first twitter message: https://twitter.com/Xperia_Insider

is sony betting on 5.5" z4 as an answer for phablet consumers? |

Thing is, anyone can just create a username and tweet pretty close information based on random posts and leaks.
Anyways, a 5.5 inch device is probably the response for the 5.5 inch LG G3 and quite possibly the G4 which should be 5.5 as well, unless LG decides to make it bigger for ridiculous reasons.
As for no new Z ultra in 1H of 2015, makes sense, w phablet would best come in the 2nd half, Q3 to battle the next note. |

I asked the xperia insider via twitter. He\she said that there is a Xperia Z4 Ultra with same specs as Z4 apart from camera. But he is not sure if it is due to MWC. He said the specs are
6.44 QHD screen
Sd 810
4 gb ram
6.9 mm thickness
Camera unknown. |

There are so many ultra-thin tablets out now that I'm presuming Sony will give up on the 'thin' race. Yes, it's great for bragging rights but the optics are compromised.
I think a Z4 Ultra with the current 20.7mp cam will fare better than the Z Ultra. If they increase the Z4 Ultra thickness, shortened the height and included the best camera I think that would do pretty well.

I don't think anything besides a +6 inch screen can fill the phablet gap. Sony is aware of the situation. Phablet market is more available for Sony to compete. IMHO
You edited the message we are good . Thinness is important since the device is huge. 7.2 mm with 6.44 and a case. Omg

So the Z range for next year will be 4.7"+ 5.5"+ 6.4" 8" and 10". What happened to the rumoured mega sized tablet?

From the last rumors...
What I liked :
1- the release schedule has been changed from 6 months to 9/10 months... a step closer to 12 months
2- there's more consolidation in the spec. and platform ( including the kernel ), making updating the devices faster hopefully.
3- less devices per year than before, means more focus on the higher-end models.
4- The spec. in the that twitter account is the best so far
5- the latest devices planned are very good, like what @goldenface said, 4.7 + 5.5 + 6.4 +8 + 10... thought I would love to see much less gap for the 6.4 model or reduce the screen size a little bit to achieve smaller dimension while still maintaining 6+ screen.
What I didn't like :
1- the problems with 810 which forced all makers to switch to 805 instead, which means 3GB ram also
2- the distinguish of north american model to the world wide model where the NA will get a QHD screen while the world wide model will get FHD screen.
What I would love to see ( eg. whish list ):
1- USB 3.0 with Type C
2- Wireless charging built in
3- Unlocking bootloader doesn't affect DRM keys and won't kill Sony specific features.

Just letting you know, 805 can use 4GB of ram. |

Really hope Sony add an IR blaster to the Z4 range next year, it's the only thing missing that I'd want from other devices out there.
