@ Mano82 If you update a UK Generic Handset via SEUS its battery life seems much better then that of ones done OTA. Also if you plug a Generic UK handset that's been updated OTA into SEUS, it says there is a update and after that that the battery life seems much better odd eh?

Weird actually it should be same But as i live in Norway & i want Nordic Generic (You said earlier it has better battery life). I tried to revert back to Nordic (I had "Rooted 023"), but i bricked my phone Then i had to root again & got unbricked my phone

Hi all,

For those that have the com.sonyericsson thing in their applications menu, it just means that the PlayNow arena app is missing (at least that was the problem for me). The way to get rid of this is to re-install PlayNow using the method I posted a few pages back. Basically all you need is OI File Manager from the Market, navigate to your phone's folder called 'system' and find the files 'playnow' and 'playnowupdater' and run these through OI File manager to re-install and then PlayNow will replace the com.sonyericsson icon.

@elad, I had this problem before as well but i was using Astro File manager before. You have to use OI File Manager to reinstall. This did the trick for me. Afterwards I just deleted OI File Manager from the apps menu if you want to.

Hope this helps some people.

Just noticed that under contacts, my phone still says SIM card unavailable under my number at the top of the list...looks like the update hasn't corrected this yet...no biggie but just thought this would be one of the first things SE fixes cos i thought it was a widespread problem...seems weird that SE can correct a lot of things on the X10 but fail to correct some other minor things.

@Winnerzero That's exactly my problem! Sorry, I didn't think OI File Manager would be any different from installing it from Astro File Manager - that's where I went wrong. You're a star. All sorted now and the "com.sonyeric..." widget has gone away too. Thanks.

When I got my X10 I had a scratch on the display after 2 days. I then realised that there is a well hidden plastic cover over the display which scratches easier than the actual display surface It was a tough bugger to remove I tell ya It is hardly noticable the plastic cover & if the display is scratch resistant why did bother putting that on Oh well

@ winnerzero & anyone else who's "MY NUMBER" doesn't show.

The following procedure that I posted in the "X10 SIM prob" Thread solved the "MY NUMBER" not showing in the Contacts App and the Status page under "About phone".

Hi guys! 1 of my 2 SIM cards wasn't showing MY NUMBER on my X10 so I put it in my P990 and went to Contacts app then chose SIM card then My Numbers under options and I manually inserted the SIM card's phone number. I put this SIM back in the X10 and MY NUMBER now shows all the time, except it won't show the " + " sign no matter how many times I've tried to rewrite it. At least MY NUMBER shows altough with no " + " ! All my previous SE phones gave the option to edit MY NUMBERS on the SIM card, as the numbers, especially on pre pay cards don't always show. So you'll have to use an older SE phone or other brand that offers this option to edit MY NUMBERS. Good Luck Guys! - Peter.

Nice info Andy

Someone stated on XDA forums that R2BA025 is out in some regions. Do you know anything about that?

I went to my local SE service centre this morning & he had the latest R2BA023 FW on the EMMA sytem. After he wiped everything off the phone & then he flashed the X10, I noticed in the Service Info menu that the Country had changed from Greece to Greece and Balkan (b) & the Brand had changed from Cosmote to Customized. Also my Customization & Content Versions had changed. With this new FW, my Auto Internet Settings are now working and now there's also a Chinese & Korean keyboard besides the Standard, Android & Japanese keyboards. Battery so far seems to last much longer but I'll have a better indication regarding battery consumption once I charge it overnight and test it for at least 24 hours. Phone feels faster & more responsive but I'll need to set it up first and put it thru it's paces tomorrow. My Playnow works but Creatouch wasn't installed so I'll just download it. On the downside I lost the trial version of Wise Pilot I had which I hadn't activated yet as it wasn't on the 023 FW, but I really don't care. All in all I'm happy so far with this FW. I'm looking forward to see what other improvements future FW updates will bring.

@Mano82 since removing seems better & marks less easily. The plastic thing is pointless as it scratches esay I seen someone on You Tube removing it & afterwards he tried scratching his display with scissors & he could not I am loving my X10 though am fearful of dropping it so I need a good case. Anyone know best place?

Here are my findings from OTA update VS SEUS update

Generic UK R1BA016 > OTA R2BA020 - Phone doesn't return to idle state correctly

Generic UK R1BA016 > OTA "Root" R2BA020 - Phone doesn't return to idle state correctly

Generic UK R1BA016 > OTA "Root"R2BA023 - Phone doesn't return to idle state correctly

All the above, I have found the phone not to sleep correctly and battery life because of this suffers.

Generic UK R1BA016 > SEUS R2BA020 - Phone sleeps correctly

Generic NCB R1FB001 > SEUS R2BA023 - Phone sleeps correctly

The updates by SEUS, seem to be a massive improvement over the OTA updates they are also much larger in size. This would suggest that a number of files are update unlike the OTA update.

Using the SEUS update I am able to get around 1 / 2 days from my phone now. However, using the OTA update I was lucky to get around 12/13 hours from my battery.

I hope you find this interesting.

did an update on my female friends phone today, she did a OTA yesterday and today pc-companion wanted to update, so i did, but it had the same version afterwards 020 as she had updated OTA yesterday, she complained over the battery. maybe a SEUS will solve it, BUT now we spent hours setting upp new keybord handcent themes and varios wearther apps... a reset and reinstall is a pain in the ass

It's the age old scenario where a full reflash is better than an OTA update.
