I wasn't saying that in American English there are two ways to spell ''artefact'', with an e and with an i. In American English, only the i is acceptable.
What I should have said is:
"Artefact with an i is the American spelling, and therefore incorrect".

Are their no former S60 users on here?
S60 users wouldn't know what to do with the X1 - its too advanced for them and the touch screen would mess up their navigation options. |

Ive installed the Touch 3d cab, Odd Lock ups and minor quirks, I dont seemed to get bmy full music library list, only a full screen is populated, then when you drag your finger up its blank, I managed to get youtube desktop-working and also internet explorer youtube working,
The battery is absolutely brillant, very impressed at moment |

Yes, this could be a long topic in and of itself
But, there is a reason tone controls are provided on any decent consumer
playback system.
Ok, we're all "sort of pointing in the same direction, using different paths", however your statement above still does not hold true of all "better" than decent hi-fi makers.
Actually I'd go as far to say that all top Amp makers (used to work in a hi-fi shop) do not have "any" tone controls", so are they wrong?
Chris
I'm not into Hi-Fi stuff, but, I can guarantee you that those amplifiers are touted for the tonal characteristics it imparts onto the sound--which is, in essence, it's frequency response (EQ), and dynamics handling. This is especially true with tube-based amps. So in effect, they have indeed manipulated the sound, they just took the controls out of your hands! So, in effect, your choice of Hi-Fi amp is also your choice of EQ. Same goes for speakers and to a lesser extent, the playback device. Most people don't know how to use EQ's...but that's another subject.
Also, another reason there are no tone controls, is because they may be expecting you to add your own separate EQ. This would most likely be of higher quality than anything built-in and it allows you the choice of EQ type. Professional amplifiers also have no tone controls built-in. It is expected that you would be supplying your own.

One of my mates used to be a reviwer/ tester for a a HiFi magazine and would get all sorts of kit to test listen.
He told me that:
All high end equipment designed for classical music was set to give neutral sound (hence no tone controls on the gear) and all the special CD recordings produced for clasical listening where set up in the same way (and BTW they cost a fortune about £50 each!)
Most Japanese equipment Technics etc is set to emphasise bass and treble even when set to flat.
Most British, European & US equipment Cambridge labs, Blaupunkt Marantz etc is set to give flat sound and "Pop Music" CD's are recored to emphasise Bass and Treble
I cant guarantee that this is correct but I can say when I first switched from a Pioneer to a Blaupunkt Hi Fi in my car, I thought it was faulty as it sounded so "flat"! and my Technics Home Hi Fi is certainly sharper and harder to my ears than my mates Cambridge system.
I find that I like my W960 better than any Hi Fi as the in ear headset I use gives me better reproduction without too much bass boom and I can move around my home and still hear my favorite recordings without having the amp set to "26"!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Apparently the American English spelling of "artifact", adhered to by 250 million Americans, isn't good enough for his stiff upper lip.
The fact is, either use is correct. Wiki confirms this, as does the link below:

One complaint I have seen mentioned a number of times about the X1 is the back that it uses small fonts, is their no way of correcting this? |

@Tigershark
Let's hope that SE won't integrate ROM updates for their WM devices in SEUS somehow.
With all other brands you get the ROM updates through one .exe file which is an offline installer and includes everything which is required.
As soon as you run it, your device enters the bootloader (flash mode) automatically and once it's finished, all is done and your device reboots.
As for your question if SE will make any updates available, yes, I believe they will.
They may release:
1. OS upgrades > n/a until WM 7 is out (ROM update)
2. Major OS & system updates (ROM update)
3. Minor updates for the functionality of bluetooth, camera, etc. (CAB files)

well, I can't imagine that it will be much different than usual for WM updates, except that SE are wrapping it up a bit tighter and controlling it all rather than expecting users to download a .EXE and run it themselves
I guess we'll find out more when the first update comes along

SEUS doesn't update live online. What it does is connects, downloads the firmware to your harddrive (encrypted of course), then the SEUS client on your computer installs the new firmware - if the internet disconnects at this point SEUS will continue updating the firmware since the file is already on your hard drive.
It's true you can't use SEUS without an internet connection, but it doesn't actually install the firmware as it downloads - it saves this step until the firmware has completed downloading.
