@coola: it will be hard for a Igbo presidency to come up. PDP (which is the party most likely to win) already has an under standing of power bouncing from north to south. if they had done it by the 6 geopolitical areas then it might have washed. personally, i'm pushing for Adamu Muazu. anyone that has seen Bauchi state pre 1999 and sees it now must give the man a hand. thier roads, schools, hospitals, power supply, water has improved tremendously, using state monies (albeit waiting for federal reompnsation in some areas). This is the kind of person we need!!!!! alas, he is close to OBJ so i doubt he will go against any person obj puts foward as ANNOINTED!!!!!!!

Hey, come on. Fani apologised!!! He said he was only doing his job. It was his job description to "take issues with anyone who took issues with my Boss". He said he was not brought up to be rude to people. Smart fella.
Yippee! Vmobile is off-and-on this afternoon.
MTN seems to have finally plugged the loop-hole. Since Friday last week... I haven't been able to browse.
Is it true that Glo is upgrading to EDGE?

Ok, it's been a week that I've owned my new Nokia N70 and here are some observations, you might call it a mini-review of sorts.
Why the N70?
Well, like I said in previous post on this thread and the South African thread there weren't any other phones available when it came time for me to upgrade. I was going to wait for the K800 August seemed too far off. I also wanted an S60 device although I had read bad reviews about the 6680, the predeccesor of the N70.
First Impressions
Out of the box the phone looks quite sturdy and the metal finish gives you confidence that it's no lightweight. When I touched the phone I realised that I had overstated the finish- in fact it's made up mostly of plastic with only the front panel around the keypad and the screen made of metal. If you got sticky fingers be careful cause the surface attracts fingerprints.
Switching it on
This particular version of the N70 is Vodafone branded so the first thing I encountered when switching it on was those ugly menu icons...soon though I got rid of them by simply changing the theme to one of the default Nokia themes.
User Interface
I've only played around a couple of times with S60 but like most recent phones, perhaps with the exception of a few, the menu structure on the N70 is quite intuitive.
Call Quality
It's quite good, mind you there's a GSM tower inside my office so there's no reason for me to get bad reception.
3G Quality
What irks me about this phone is that I can't choose for the phone to connect to the Vodacom APN only through UMTS. It only gives me an option of "GSM" or "Dual Mode", what in fact happens is that the phone tends to switch to GPRS/EDGE when in dual mode even though there are 3G base stations located all over Cape Town. When it does choose 3G, the speeds are pretty fast.
So what's in the box?
Well it comes with a host of user manuals, I counted three. There's also a pair of white earphones that copies the look of those from the iPod, a charger and a cloth to wipe the phone of fingerprints as I mentioned earlier. I found the sound quality of the earphones to be poor compared to those that come with phones.
Overall Impressions
I'd say it's value for money but would hasten to call the N70 a world beater, the K800 might just have something to say about that. Talk time and stand-by time is much better than those on my P910. The camera is capable and the slide mechanism at the back of the phone makes taking picture so much easier (I'll post pictures later).

@coola: COOLA!!!! COOOLAA!!!!!! If taylor apologizes, should we leave him be? If Hitler apologized, should he be forgiven (by us, not by God)? Its not an apology I need. Its a competant person in office. Is he competent or not!!!????What ever portfolio he is given, is he qualified? does he have connections? does he have the vision? NO!!!!! |

@brix, if the p910i had 3g, which would you have prefered? if i'll have to get a Nokia, my only choice would probably be N80. |

@Brix: Nice review. A friend of mine also got the N70 recently, and in fiddling with it I have to agree with u about the intuitive nature of the UI. I especially liked the shortcut icons that can be placed on the standby screen. But the sound quality of the mp3 player does not compare with K750i not to talk of the walkman versions. The video quality howver beats most phones hands down.
@Mamba: Even if the P910i was a 3G phone, its camera resolution would still put it in an inferior position to the N70 |

If it came between choosing the N70 and a P990, I'd probably still choose the N70.

@mamba: My choice has nothing to do with price. It's just that I hate the general size of P-series phones, they're too big also my P910 didn't have 3G and the battery was generally bad.

@All...I miss you guys. My wife just put to bed.
Later in the day i will reply to some of your posts. But we would be crazy to think that these present politicians would be able to lead us out of our predicament
Neither DUKE nor ADAMU is fit to wear cap. OBJ will claim he brought GSM to naija. I laugh. How long has SA been using GSM? What do we have? 2.5G. In terms of telecomm can we compare our beloved country to Ghana? NIGERIA SCATTER SCATTER |
