nice, i too was thinking they should let go of windows.. SE can no way compete against HTC for wm now... HTC's latest ui is very very good. Compared to that x2 doesnt seem like it would offer a good xperience.
Symbian and andriod seems to be great(especially symbian)...

And that`s suppose to be spectacular and new? We`ve already seen 720p video..
Though I appreciate your hint
If you're referring to OmniaHD then you haven't seen the real quality 720p HD then. its hardware is not capable of powering a fluid 720p video without too much compromise in either bitrates or framerate. well lets see if "Satio II" would be based on a true HD-capable processor like the OMAP 3440 or hummingbird, wish it was Android though so that we can possibly see snapdragon or tegra

@badassmam
It looks like the cash cow could be Aino. With the PS3 slim outselling the XBox 360 by 10 - 1 right now it seems Aino has appeared at the right time.

But I don't believe they will ditch WM.
Because from what you say, ANY other company should kick the WM,
like Samsung or LG. This is unreal.
I read somwhere that X2 premiere was kind of very important for Microsoft itself,
some VIP figures were present there....

It's just another round of propaganda by Sir Eldar of smokesandmirrorsville.
There are more people active online with closer insider info on WM and SE than Eldar can ever wish for. Isn't it surprising that none of them have mentioned anything on these lines?
Eldar drops hints about longterm support for the X2 just before it is launched and his faithful followers start to panic. It's a nice plan. Except some of us have the ability to think logically. |

Except some of us have the ability to think logically.
Tell me what´s the logic for a company with the limited resources, and bad financial condition, like SE, to support THREE different smartphone platforms, plus feature phones?

Do any of us actually KNOW exactly HOW MUCH resources it takes to actually develop a platform? Do we know for a fact that none of the team members for one platform do double duty and work in the others? The XDA developers have less resources than any company out there and they still manage to get things done smimmingly, don't they? Mind you, we haven't even talked about outsourcing here; which is still a very effective cost control measurement.
Internet cliches are easy to pass on from person to person without actually spending time to think about their intricacies. That's all I'm saying.

When I worked at SE, there were separate teams for separate platforms. For example, there was a separate team for the WinMo platform (hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, verification engineers, etc.). There was also a separate team for SE's feature phone platform (some shared with Ericsson). There is also a separate team for their Symbian/UIQ platform. Finally there was a separate team for their entry-level phones. I would guess there is a separate team for their Android platform as well.
This was before the realignment program. They seemed to have merged their feature phone platform into one team/organization during the realignment, however, there are different required skillsets/requirements to work with WinMo, Symbian, and Android (at least on the software side).
The work XDA does is great work, but is very trivial to the amount of work that goes into bringing a platform up from scratch, trust me. |

A lot of people are mixing up specs and names for HTC, I cannot say what but there are Androids and WinMo phones coming soon i.e. on sale this year, some great high end devices. The announcement should be soon anyway, before October when WinMo 6.5 is officially out.
Back on topic, Google have had a lot of feedback from people wanting multi touch on Android. It is part of their plans but not their top priority. A few phones are reported to be getting Android multi touch like from HTC and Motorola so it would be logical for Rachael to get multi touch as well in which case, a capacitive screen for Rachael......?
Thanks for the promising info, can you say whether any of the upcoming HTC screamers will have physical (slide out) keyboards or will they all be touchscreen only?

@crossmatched,
Now, that would be one hell of an eagerly awaited rumour, indeed.

I believe we won't be seeing any reincarnation or direct successors for those. with the advent of Xperia Pureness, SE finally starts thinking for something new. i hope the future devices would have its own innovation. we already had phones with specs of the highest standards that many of us had wished ever since (X2, aino or Satio for example) and it was proven that innovation in terms of putting up all the specs doesn't really make a device good.

Isn't the Aino SE's 5800? I mean with enough advertisment big profits could come from it. I mean its what 450-500 euros? |
