@ihe. Phones like SE & Siemens not only display when GPRS is available, but also whether it is attached (useable) or not. That way d user can tell whatz going on.
I just need others to confirm (or confound) what I have experienced, especially Siemens/SE users on glo. |

@Aya,in Nokia, whenever G,wch represents gprs is displayed,it means its both attached & usuable. When it is not ther,it means no browsing.

@ihe. Yes, I am aware of dat, but thatz all to it,as I could see from my old 6610. I had 2 attempt to browse 1st b4 d G showed or not. On SE/Siemens, u can tell from standby 1. availability, and 2. whether useable or not. Very convenient & saves u wasting ur time attempting to browse 1st. |

As you Guys must have guessed from my silence, Glo got me too! Just as I was typing my response yesterday, the GPRS symbol went off! I have remained in that no-browsing state since then. Yep, AYA is correct, Glo cuts you off when you owe them.
What I don't know is whether you have a specific amount you can owe them because I really enjoyed zero credit browsing between Friday afternoon and the time I got cut off. I sent an MMS to Tilly and downloaded a ringtone. Maybe they started implementing from lagos and finally reached us in Abuja. Maybe... |

@coolapostle. That's what I believe: u enjoyed zero browsing till the check was implemented at your end. But that aside, the GPRS service is generally unreliable. I had thought I would be able to use it as my primary out-of-office connection, but I am thinking of going back to MTN's CSD for that. At least, that one works with a greater degree of certainty. |

I actually bought my new phone from a Nigerian vendor in Cape Town yesterday...friendly service although the bugger didn't want to bargain with me over the price of the T68i. |

I'm back 2 using MTN CSD on my p800, meaning I can use Opera, AvantGo, FTP800 etc. Glo GPRS becomes backup for me. Sorry glo, but I stick with what works...

@angel. Whatz dat mean? I still dont like MTN, their service culture, their attitude. But glo gprs is behaving very much like NEPA, so... Yhellow Nigeria!!
My last 4 posts have been via MTN. Using Opera, I can open multiple web (not WAP) pages, and enjoy other internet utilities not available on glo gprs wap.
Opening web pages on gprs charges would be suicidal!
