There is no cust cutting and nor is there any viewing angle problem. Don't let some bad protos fool you people. For Z1 Sony was considering multiple panels including the same panel from Z/ZL. Which is why there is a lot of variation as all those protos must have made it to IFA show floor.
According to what I hear, Sony has chosen a VA panel which actually costs MORE than the Z Ultra panel. So there you go, Sony hasn't cut costs even for the display.

@xenia - i only trust myself and my eyes but yes, i consider what other say if they're worth considering. and i'm sure xell didn't see every single z1 at ifa. as has been discussed, there are some with great screens and others with not so great screens. as far as i can tell, those who have gone to see z1 at a retail store have had zero complaints about the display and those certain people seem to be pretty picky about screens.
@randomuser - i was just conveying information i saw/read on va vs. ips sites. z1 is for me! if i can get my hands on a global version, which does not seem to be sold anywhere

I don't think C6906 will be sold unlocked.
Not until November at least.

IPS Vs VA Panel: http://ipslcdpanel.blogspot.co.il/
according to this article IPS is better then VA in everything, so why did sony choose VA for the Z1? cause of lower costs? or am i missing something? |

It was published on the IPS BLOG... so what could we excpect?? LOL
I found it too some hours ago when searching for info on VA, MVA, IPS, TN etc etc... but it was the only one saying that IPS is superior in everything...! So I didn't trust it |

@Randomuser
So nice quality, by far the best I have seen from Sony.
I think Sony actually kept its promise to deliver the ultimate phone.

So how many of you guys are considering the QX lenses particularly the QX100? i know it won't be cheap getting them both but if ever your network offers you such deal would you bite it?

really, and what about this article, are they wrong too? they are not related to IPS technology, just a tech site: http://tech2.in.com/topstuff/[....]tv-tvs/ips-technology/152982/0
Techquickie is wrong too? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?[....]U&feature=player_embedded#t=45
basically they also say that IPS is superior in everything to VA, just not in response time - but who cares about response time in mobile screen?
