@etaab have you tried scratching the body of N8? I think it's very hard to achieve from what I've seen on some videos. |

No, but to be honest im rather annoyed right now. In fact im rather enraged !
Ive discovered that my N8's 3.5mm jack does not work. It does allow some sound through but it crackles, cuts out and plays very faint. Whether i received a faulty phone, or whether it broke when my girlfriend managed to drop my new N8 the very first time she picked it up (arent women stupid ?) im not sure.
This always happens. Whenever i buy something new it always comes broken, be it a phone, watch or even a new car !
My friends call me "Mr Bad Luck" for a reason.

LOL....reminds me of my own youth. My friends used to say: We buy something technical. Come with us and choose. We will buy the one next to it.
Mine had always faults.

So what do you think of your new phone then jake20 ?
Ive spent the last hour on and off the phone to Nokia careline attempting to get my phone replaced or fixed. I wish these companies would use English speaking call centres for customer support.
They said they would email me a returns label i could print off to attach to the package, but didnt email it me !

First of all: congratulations on your new N8, Jake!
Now, I would like to ask both etaab and jake about one thing Iīve read here:
http://conversations.nokia.co[....]-shots-nokia-n8-camera-school/
Do you confirm that itīs possible to choose ISO-100 and 2-second exposure?
If so, that would be quite a good thing for night shots!

@Vit
thanks!
Well, you can definitely set ISO at 100, but there is no manual shutter speed setting.
I am assuming that if you set ISO 100, and just crank up the EV value to 2, you will get the slowest shutter speed.
But I am not sure it will be 2 seconds though. I will try tonight!

It's funny how the Satio and the N8 are compared throughout this thread!
It shouldn't be Satio vs N8 but rather how better is the N8 than the Satio and whether it's worth upgrading to N8 from a Satio or not..
There's no doubt the N8 is better than the Satio in every single aspect! Well, maybe the exterior design on the Satio could be more attractive but the build quality of the N8 with aluminium casing is higher..
There's is huge difference in the set of features the N8 offers over the Satio!
And Symbian^3 is a huge jump over the disastrous Symbian^1..
Maybe to the naked eye it's not that obvious, due to the similar UI used and for the fact that no major tweaks were made over the first version regarding the UI. But it's all what's needed as an enhancement.
And to be honest, I prefer how Symbian organizes things throughout the UI. Compared to Android where one has always to scroll through long lists of options to do things. Some consider the Symbian UI not so friendly, I consider it efficient.
Android has the upper hand regarding the home screen though..
However, this is all minor stuff. There are third-party apps for this as well..
What counts is that Symbian^3 has kept Symbian the most capable and most efficient OS in the market. One has now more degrees of freedom with Symbian than all other OS's as well! These are facts that are not to be questioned to debated.
Now, as to the camera, obviously the N8 blows the Satio away! And it should be expected.
I always thought that SE have done a pretty good job with color rendering with the Satio till I saw what the N8 is capable of. That's not to mention the huge difference regarding noise and extreme conditions!
SE, same applies to Sony btw, they always overdo it with post processing which leaves less options for the user to manipulate the captured photos and also comes at a certain cost of overall quality and loss of the natural aspect of the photo!
Nokia has done it teh other way around with the N8 this time. Of course the huge sensor helps a lot in this respect. They've implemented as much little post processing as possible. It's very clear to recognize. It was expected for the N8 to be teh best cameraphone, but I must admit, at least for me, I didn't expect Nokia to manage such an achievement.
The funniest of all though, in this thread, is the member who dared to compare the horrible Pixon to the N8 and claimed it's a better overall camera! Well, what could I say. Some people are just funny, aren't they?
Anyway, it's obvious that it's worth to upgrade to the N8.
I'm so tempted to dump my Satio and make the jump.. But something is still holding me back. Maybe my stupid connection to SE. I might just wait for their next hit. Only worries I have that the "next Satio" would be on Android! Well, I'm not ready for Android yet. Or maybe the other way around, but anyway..
One downside for the N8 is the camera cover. I find this just unacceptable! F*ck apps and social networking, as well those 3 mm Nokia claimed it's better to do without! I blame Apple for this though!
I call it the Apple effect. They advertise their stupid iPhone as the slimmest smartphone in hte market, and it's a 3.5" phone! What would 3 mm in thickness do if the whole damn thing is that huge!
Anyway, what I'm hoping for is SE gather their strenght and thoughts, and release an N8 killer running on Symbian^4 and equipped with a 14MP 1/1.63" sensor camera mid 2011.. |

I must say that these were taken on different days, so lighting may have been different.
