Now its 15fps qvga, and 30fps for lower resolutions
Here´s the part that matters...if someone here is polish, please translate this
W nowym sofcie R6D15 ma byc podobno upgrade do Symbiana 9.3 oraz do UIQ3.1. Wielu tak pisze ze bedzie. Sa dwie wersje albo telefon bedzie do tego upgrade mial albo wyjdzie nowy P990i/P995 z tymi poprawkami. Data to okolo 21 maj to wersja najwczesniejsza moze sie przedluzyc do konca czerwca.
Co maja wniesc zmiany:
- wideo 320x240 30fps mp4
- lepsze zarzadzanie RAM-em
- HSDPA w co bardzo watpie bo hardware nie da sie przeszkoczyc chodz HSDPA to ulepszony UMTS
- ulepszenie predkosci USB
- i paru innych dodatkow java, szybsze uruchamianie
W zadne sposob nie da sie tego potwierdzic jest to opinia paru ludzi. Czas pokaze co bedzie

Wow, but again, if that is REALLY true a n d this fw is not -again- full of bugs....
........then this would be the very first time that SE has shown greatness! That would indeed keep many people that plan to leave se, stick with se! Including me!

it really seems, that we will get symbian 9.3 for our p990i - great.
but will there also be the today screen an the new desktop with those many icons (which can be rolled out) from the p700 included? |

I'm a a bit puzzled. Wouldn't there need to be an improvement in P990i hardware in order for HSDPA to be installed? Or is this what it says in the above translation?
Is it possible that a HSDPA chipset has already been embedded in the P990i?

Just wondering....If it is for real the conversion to UIQ 9.3 with the new FW (R6) How will we know? I just searched my phone and found no sign that we now got UIQ 9.1......am I wrong.... ...how will we know that it changes.... |

how can they add HSDPA to the P990i with a mere firmware upgrade??isn't this supposed to be a hardware modification??

that was a bit of confusion i think, because its symbian 9.3 that supports it, but then you will need hardware to support, that afaik the p990 does not have
we will know the symbian version has changed when we face dramatic improvements on the RAM issue...on surface, not much will change

i wish they would add the desktop of the p700. the four icons in the buttom of the dektop in fo mode are a joke. even the m600 has five icons and at least one can be changed. the large empty desktop can't be, what se indended for the release of the p990i. i am sure they wanted to add something like in the p700, but couldn't make it in time.

Guys I'm polish and in the polish text everything is what you know already - better video with 30 bps, HSDPA, Symbian 9.3, better RAM.
But the guy from the polish forum also says that it is not confirmed. He says the time will show. Also the time of release between 21 may and end of june.
I'm not really believing in system upgrade... But I hope they really improve P990. It is a good phone. |

@michael the mage, over at my-symbian Lisa@cps has explained why some applications can be restored and some can't. Apparently there is a backup/restore awareness API that needs to be used. It follows that a few applications that have used it properly do get restored.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace  So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

Netheril i already answered that...30 fps is only for smaller resolutions right now, not for QVGA
Regarding the truth about the symbian upgrade...i am gonna say this again:
1 - If people here are not complete UIQ noobs, all should know who is ajack. Well, if you can put some reserve about myself and my infos, then read what he wrote. Its all there
2 - People folowing the SE inside info scene, know who are MR and Rog from mobile-review...then please, ask them about this - i know the answer
3 - Then, if you have acess to people directly conected to SE, and that have acess to SE protos in a daily base, like i do, ask them. I did, and it was like that that i first got this info.
4 - There are several other insiders or people connected from SE here, at mobile-review, at aas and at my-symbian that i also spoke too - all confirm the info
So, what´s left??? Yeah, a press release. But i doubt they will talk about this in the press...but i can be surprised, maybe they say something in the 8th May. Ajack already said in that day we will know what OS version the final P700 will bring, and that will be the version used to upgrade P990/W950/M600
