Allright fellah's... I have followed all hints in this thread: downloaded version 3 of the installation software, ran it in Win2K compatability mode, etc. Now WinXP sees the MMC writer and installs it but will not allow to access it. Now it keeps tellling me to insert a disk (and YES, I have the card in the writer). Am I a complete dumbf#¤k or do I have a dud on my hands? Anyone had a malfunctiong MMC writer yet? |

@waddie
I have used dietmp3. It's really easy. Just set your settings to CD quality with minimum size and it will compress them to 96kbs. This should reduce each mp3 by around 30%. You can't really notice the difference in sound quality. The demo is available for free on their site or you can the full version from kazaa.
Also the biggest MMC I have found is 128Mb. The cheapest place I have found to buy one is here:

It would also be worth buying a USB card reader though. They are quite cheap at around £15 - £20 and will read all card types. Well worth it for speed of transfer of files.
I think there is a earlier thread with a link to one.
Has anyone found a 256Mb MMC? Do they exist?

No, I spent a few hours looking for my 128mb MMC and that was the largest I found. Maybe in a few months! But I can get 47 tracks or about 150 minutes on the 128 mb at 96k/s. |

I think the Jukebox software is far too big and complicated. What is the best simple (free?!?!) program that will just encode my cd music files (wavs) to mp3 with a choice of bitrates? Thanks.

You can download the demo version and then apply a crack to make it work. I may know where such crack is if you have problems.
I didn't just say that.  |
