@Stewart,
Just for your info, I am 10 for 10 with the iSync after doing what I posted yesterday. Did you have the chance to give it a try?
Cheers,
Don
P.S. I think that Symbian is a collaboration between the major players with Ericsson being one of them. |

Sapporobaby?
I am using iSync with my P900, but I dont have a firewall. Do you know how to open the ports without a firewall?

You don't need to open ports if you don't have your firewall on... they are all open - this is the point of a firewall - to close ports, and only open the ones you specify (directly, or indirectly).
This is why Windows XP is a virus portal by default because Microsoft didn't have the intelligence to turn it on.
OSX didn't require its firewall on because no ports are open on an initial installation of OSX.
iSync and firewall issues don't affect you if you don't have your firewall on.

I just got my P900 yesterday, and the first thing I did was upgrade my firmware. the upgrade seems to be successful, and now my CDA162003/6 organizer version is R5B02. But ever since after I did the upgrade, I notice that the network indicator are stuck on cingular (I am now a T-mobile customer). Before the upgrade the T-mobile brand will appear as I use my new T-mobile SIM card.
I tried going into "control panel" and under "connection" tab, go into "GSM network" option. from there I tried selecting network, but T-mobile was not an option, be it manual mode or auto mode. I guess I can re-flash the firmware again, but please let me know if you guys know anything about this, thanks. |

@scroitoru,
When you say poll, do you mean to the users whom have upgraded or to the users who are also Mac users, that have performed the upgrade, or something that I may have missed...
From what I have heard, the upgrade certainly breaks the connection between iSync and the P900. As it stands now, the connection problem is a problem centering around port and routing addresses between the P900 and Mac via iSync. |

@stewart1 and Monken,
I think by default OS X installs a firewall and closes several ports of which port 3004 might be one of them. I tend to use Norton Internet Security because it is a bit more configurable and because there are not many Mac products out there. Here is some info about how the IP addresses are formed under Mac during an iSync:
**Mac's IP will be set to 169.254.1.68 and phone's to 169.254.1.5 after having called the function "acsp resetci"; this function call comes immediately after a kernel call "IOBluetoothRFCOMMConnection::newUserClient"**
In short, I have set my firewall to accept connections from the range of addresses: 169.254.1.0 to 169.254.1.254 and opened port 3004. Hope this helps. I would suggest not upgrading the P900 until these problems can be verified and resolved.

I guess I'm just lucky because after the upgrade, I am still able to sync with my Mac via iSync. Although I don't always keep the connection on the first try, what i do is browse the P900 using BT File exchange > browse device, and while the two are connected (my Mac and the P900), I then initiate iSync, and the BT connection stays, and I am able to sync. |

Like Oferlaor already mentioned it, all the fields are now messed up...
I hope can correct that quickly...

Hi!!
I'm getting really confused here...
Sorry for posting something probably talked already before, but if you guys could help would be great!!
I'm in Switzerland with Sunrise Provider and I just seem to not be able to do a firmware upgrade!!! It's great to see you all talking about it, but I tried it regularly and still have:
Organiser: CXC162021 R1A05
CDA: CDA162004/5 R2A01
Any suggestions on how to get it upgraded?
Thanks...

welcome to Esato
this is usually because you have a branded P900 and your operator has not provided any updates for it yet. what you have is defnitly the latest on the online update server

AFAIK you won't be missing that much, except if you want to use bluetooth. It has had some serious bugs, but they've been fixed with later releases. So, you might run into problems when using BT.
Can't think of other specific stuff. If you do a search on Esato, you're bound to find info about the release notes for all upgrades (except the latest one). |
