I've just been reading through here and found very little talk about the official Esato ringtone. There must be a little Mozart out there amongst us.

that all that has been submtted so far. I'm a bit surprised given all the great theme makers Esato has. I know because I've seen all the hard work!

Ive not had time to make a theme yet. I have one ready to submit in the genarl section though. I think the ringtone should just be the tune from the advert

thats great orangeman, we'll look forward to receive that
the problem with the tune is that its copyright of course. we'll need something original

Unless Im very much mistaken you can use 30 seconds of a tune max without incurring any copyright infringement.

actually my understanding is up to 10% but no more than 30 seconds is allowed.
however to save complications of all this copyright law, and since we want people to actually make the music, we specifically asked for "self composed" ringtone

well I'm prepared to follow up on that as a matter of interest, but the comp is still self made ringtone.
anyway, this 16 bars, could that be specifically for written music? because I am fairly sure about the 10%/30 second rule for electronically used audio though I am going to check it out again, as a matter of interest

I'm pretty sure the copyright rule is 16 bars. Though I did my music course about 5 years ago
There are only 12 musical notes so It gets a little limited.

well I don't want to keep this thread off topic too much but I can find loads of references to the 10%/30 second rule but none for the 16 bar rule so if you find anything I'd appreciate a PM with the link to add to my ever growing library of IE favourites! thanks for the info!
