I think the 6230 is a great phone, maybe the most complete today. I’m not a big fan of Nokia but even I have to admit the only downsides I can find to it are the tiny screen and the fact that there is no flash on the phone and it doesn’t have a joystick.
On the other hand the memory card issue really doesn’t matter. Most people who buy a phone with an 32 MB memory card will never upgrade it. Loads and loads of people who own a 6600 or 3650 still use the card included in the standard kit. From a marketing point of view 32MB non expendable memory isn’t a downside (except for the real tech-heads).
The Nokia 6230 will sell really good, but that’s cause it’s Nokia, it looks great and has a lot of features. But the prime reason will be because it says Nokia on the phone, not because of it’s features. And who knows, if the price of K700 is right (like the T610 was at it’s point in time), it might sell even better.
P.S.: the mp3 argument is bull, people don’t want to play mp3 on a phone. Just look at what a big hit the 3300 turned out to be...

I've tried both phones and I easily prefer K700 because it's really cool and amazing phone that suits on me. I think features are number two. How you like the phone itself, it must be the number one.

I must confess to being in real pain over this decision. Ever since I made the decision to go for the T68m a while back I have been a true SE fan. I honestly thought that there would be little that would make me move away from SE and less still that would make me move back to Nokia.
I am really loathe to admit it but I think that Nokia have got it absolutely spot on with the 6230. I have spent about a week now playing, ahem! Sorry evaluating both phones side by side where I work. The points that have made me come up with the decision are as follows:
1. The 6230 has expandable memory. I know that a lot of people may never change the amount of memory in it, but it is nice to have a choice. I mean a whole movie on a phone is now a real possibility. I use the bus and train a lot and it's a godsend.
2. The radio. The signal quality on the 6230 is much better that on the K700i. Why? I have no idea but the fact that I can pick up a certain radio station as clear as a bell on the 6230 and not on the K700i is proof on that point.
3. The camera quality. I took both phones outside the shop I work in and took a picture of the shop front and then printed them off on our Kodak photo point. The 6230 pictures are noticeably better in both the colour representation and picture quality.
4. The video playback quality. The K700i is quite jerky compared to the K700i and yes we put the same clip on both.
All I have to do know is unlearn the far superior SE interface and menu structure and I'll be more than happy.
Why is life never simple!

All these phones...
Everyone of them is just the same: A phone with messaging capability, a camera that sucks, some simple video, Outlook sync, some rotten games, a screen that drains power, FM-radio, grps, wap, bluetooth or not... It's getting boring. Every new phone is more or less "same shit, new wrappping" nowadays.
It's been years since we saw something really spectacular - like when the P800/P900 was launched. I want something NEW, something that make me drool of excitement! Now, what should that be? Obvious: All the usual stuff, plus a decent camera LENS, built-in GPS reciever with trip computer and navigation capabilities, durability (raincoat, bulletproof), a comfortable keyboard, flashlight, compass... wait a minute - am I describing the Nokia 5140?
Sorry that this ended up in the K700 vs 6230 thread, but I just tested a K700 and was a bit disappointed. Nice phone, but really nothing new. |

You die hard nokia/ se fans make me laugh!
Im not biased to any brand cos of its name or previous products, if a phone is quality i'll buy it; if its crap, i wont look at it twice.

If what you meant by this that the k700's video is poor you must be even more confused!
At work two mates were getting new phones , one got a 6230, one got a k700i and side by side the difference in video if huge!
I saw two video's on the 6230, one on the k700.
On the 6230 video is poor to average, k700's video was far better,
Resolution was better,
Less digital video artifacts,
Faster frame rate(smoother).

is there any news/feature that SE will upgrade their design that will include a mmc slot for the upcoming model of k700?
What other model besides P800 and P900 that have memory slot? |

Just something I wanna say
I Just got my new K700 and my bro just got his 6230. Anyones, we battle with the phones. He always says his is better and I say mine is better. Anyways, when we were comparing sound quality, I sent him "Baby". When he recieved it he got mad cause it sounded better on my phone and he wanted to delete it. When he tried to delete it it said he couldent. He couldent do anything with the file besides listen to it. He was so mad SE-1 Nokia-0 |

Hi guys,
I've got a Nokia 3200 which makes me a nokia fan... Now at the moment i think that the 6230 is better because without the memory card what can you do with it?
Make phone calls and thats about it ohh and store name's and numbers, that seems about it... what mobile phones were really ment for (hmm i dunno but weren't mobile phones supposed to be used for making phone calls not being used as video camera's, camera's, MP3 players, radio's etc ).
But and then again, Nokia has no flash and a small screen (like my 3200 which at the moment needs to get sent off to nokia care centre place thingy cuz it wont turn on).
Thats 2 bad things but without a memory card that makes all of your features nearly hopeless because they all require ample amounts of memory.
but oh well, Nokia and SE will always be competing against each other

oh and also
6230 can use 256MB MMC... any bigger and it will burn out
WATCH IT!
256MB and below only
Otherwise you'll have to pay for parts because it won't be covered by warranty, cuz u didnt do your research before you went out and tried things you shouldn't have.
well bai bai peeps |
