Just proves my point.. I mean, what makes millions of people blindly believe anything that is being said by their priests or what ever they call these fanatics. It seems that the more devoted you are to your religion, the more it's negotiable to kill those who doesn't pray to the same invisible man that you pray to. Religion is only here because it's a perfect way to control thought and there by controlling people.

religion really has nothing to do with it. those people are following a person they believe in, not because he's right but because he's a gifted orator, or charismatic, or appeals to some deep-seated need within them. people who feel downtrodden or desparate will cling onto anything which promises to improve their lot in life, regardless of the cost to others. all they need is a convenient scapegoat, and someone to wave their arms and shout a few slogans. in such circumstances "inspired leadership" and "insanity" often become confused. in general, society will always follow anyone who sounds convincing because people automatically assume their so-called leaders know better than they do.
"religion" is merely a convenient justification to sate the conscience of the doubters. hitler managed much the same thing without resorting to religion, simply because at that time the german people were depressed (both economically and socially) and needed a sense of direction and purpose. it all boils down to prejudice and vengeance. in general people don't start following a religion for the harm it will allow them to do others, but for the good it preaches. throughout history in various religions certain leaders have imposed their twisted morality on their flock. because of people's willingness to be told what to do, and allow others to think for them, they have been swayed - believing that "since my religion has always shown me what is right and good, this too must be right and good or else my leader would not teach it". children are especially malleable in these circumstances, because they automatically look to their elders for guidance.
people are always willing to let others think for them. it's easier, and they don't have to take any responsibility. anyone with a reasonable level of charisma or intelligence can usually take advantage of that for their own ends. it's people's willingness to be led that allows dangerous fanatics to take charge. religion is just a convenient environment because it allows people to place blame away from themselves and onto some "other", but it is by no means essential.
