P900 Finally Official !!!!!!!!-Check Inside |

From which source is everyone basing their assumption that tomorrow will be the official announcement? Bear in mind that the gossip about today being the day seems to have been wrong (MULTIMATUM was just lucky in finding those pictures, they aren't "official" just yet).
Looking at the CTIA schedule of events, it mentions "New Products" being exhibited Wednesday, but nothing mentioned for Tuesday.

heh @masseur yep i woke up early today to be ready for the first leaks of this week i hope there's no problem that i published in my site the photos some of you esators kindly managed to post here.
they will announce the p900 tomorrow, ok, but will they take advantage of the opportunity to say something about p200 or the rest of the rumoured models?
well... i guess we'll have to get up early tomorrow too
edit: @drinker, for the time any pic exists in the official site, the pic is official. what's more, no one can say they don't look 100% official. the texts too. we're experiencing officiality here, ok?
regarding the ctia. sony ericsson always is in the habit of announcing stuff earlier than expected. for example sony dreamworld was sept 3rd and sony ericsson presented z600, z200, t230 and the accessories on 2nd all over the world.

here must be the right thread to talk about the official site for the p900... in the P800/900 section !!

so...
it seems that p900 does not support duo pro, and is limited to 128mb. Corresponding text on site:
"A 32 MB Memory Stick Duo is included with the P900 and Memory Sticks up to 128 MB capacity are supported" - press release
hmmm...makes it even more doubtful that duo pro will be supported on p800...
but it does have an upgraded audio player:
"Featuring a Music Player, complete with playlists, shuffle and repeat functions, the P900 MP3 player has all the functionality you would expect from a quality music machine." - p900 main 'mini site', entertainment section
the p900 also supports internet firmware updates!!!
"Starting today, there are also on-line phone update services available from sonyericsson.com. They allow consumers to download the latest version of the phone software directly to the phone without having to visit a service centre." - press release
WOW! I guess this feature will probably eventually make its way over to the p800. hopefully a firmware update may become available for the p800 with communicorder, the updated audio player, and the ability for future firmware upgrades over the net (im guessing this would need to be implemented by a service center-flashed firmware before firmwares could be downloaded off the net).
So whose betting we could just copy the p900 coummunicoder app and install it on the p800? gotta be possible... maybe with a few 'hacks' to make it think the p800 is a p900 if it checks that kinda thing.
An interesting thing to note is in the press release it states the phone is "the P900 is smaller, faster, simpler and more flexible than ever before"
ok, its smaller, and 'simpler' and 'flexible' are marketing, but faster??? Is this just marketting words, or could there actually be a faster processor?
I can't find any information on what version of UIQ the phone is using. Can anyone confirm or otherwise that it uses 2.1?
Otherwise looks pretty awesome, I won't be upgrading from p800 though - can't afford it, and the only hardware difference seems to be the screen. Hoping for the t68 -> t68i situation to replicate
(this seems to be the biggest thread I can find on the p900, wouldn't it be better in the P800/P900 forum?)
/EDIT: @lulu oops writing post while you posted, but thread you posted above is locked for replies.
/EDIT (again): UIQ update: this pic here http://www.sonyericsson.com/p900/images/pda_home_pic2.jpg shows a red top and bottom bar (whatever their proper names are). This must indicate the phone is UIQ 2.1 right?

Additional storage space is available by using Memory Stick Duo. A 32 MB Memory Stick Duo is included
with the P900 and Memory Sticks up to 128 MB capacity are supported. Any number of Memory Stick Duos
may be used for storage; for example, a number of Memory Stick Duos may be used to store an MP3 music
collection. Memory Sticks may be used to exchange data with other devices. See Memory StickŪ Duo on
page 54 for more information. |

@fijbert maybe they mean it can absorb the impacts when you throw it on the ground cause it still doesn't support duo pro |
