2. Using a mobile on a plane will give it problems! Was it not the case during 9/11 folk phoned home from their mobiles in some cases! Granted they did go down in flames, but it had sod all to do with their phones, and more to do with a couple of blokes with towels on their heads and beards!

Yeah me neither I can't believe the utter gash I read here either. Nothing personal (i realise you were only making a flippant remark), and I am not usually one to defend those who chose to sport facial hair, but please lets not give in to racial stereotypes.

If anyone would like to identify for a towel-wearer, and find the few hijackers with any facial hair, please look here

Racial stereotypes? Utter nonsense and balderdash. Its a sad day indeed when political correctness comes to the fore once again, I am quite sure our Caledonian chum didn't mean anything malicious by his remarks.
As for using a phone on a plane, I find the whole concept a tad silly. If there is a pressing concern to make a telephone call during a flight then one can use the phones provided on the aircraft. A nice aspect of flying is that mobile phones can't interrupt conversations, a small respite from the ubiquitous mobile phone!

Interesting thread.

There are several conspiracy theories which reckon the september 11 2001 aeroplane crashes are a bit fishy. The impossibility of getting a mobile phone signal at 20,000 feet and 600mph seems to rule out some of the official versions of events that day - particularly the call from Barbara Olsen to her husband Ted Olsen.

Check http://www.rense.com for more conspiracy stuff.

PS - as mentioned, Bluetooth is switched off in flight mode, so this is a moot point for the P800. You have to switch BT off because you have to be in flight mode on a plane.

PPS - Smoking in the toilet makes you a bit of a cock I think, not a 'bad boy'. You need a 1985 BMW 525i and 3kw of bass for that.

PPPS The difference in electronic kit tolerance between takeoff/landing and normal flight is that if there is a problem during takeoff/landing, there is much less opportunity to sort it. Planes in this phase of flight don't get a second chance if there's a problem with an onboard system

Conspiracy theories aside, the issue of using a mobile phone on a plane is interesting. As I posted before, I personally like the idea of no mobiles on a plane, its a little escape from them for a while. Very few people are so in need of making and receiving calls constantly that they must have their phone in use almost all the time. Those people who do, are usually rich and powerful enough where they have people who handle all that stuff for them and they probably don't even have their own phone.

Sorry if i offended on my towel comment! It was a joke, granted not very funny to anyone who wears a towel with pride! Fair play to them!

I think there should be a better reason why folk can't use their phones on a plane! Then again, i'd still like it if airlines say NO to mobile phones! Silence is golden and all that!

i think i probably offended more people
i agree that at least for the duration of a flight we should be able to relax and enjoy lots of complimentary drinks in peace!
