I am attempting to do this also, and will also post pictures of mine when it is done. Any color suggestions other than just straight black?

Entirely Silver. Try to paint the black part silver/grey like the lower and side parts. My father (who als spraypaints motorcycles) says it can be done, but I'm a chicken hahaa. |

I'm wondering, is there a way to make it like xpmillinium's
(the first guy on this post), who used rustproof paint, but make it smooth and glossy like MixiN's pink P800, where it appears smooth and glossy? Thanks!!!
I also noticed that xpmillinium didn't use the Primer, though it was in his photos. What is this for? What does Primer do? Also, what does laquer do? Will this make the outside coating smooth?
Thanks!!!
Ethan

Wow, good paint job.
Getting a black T630 takes the fun out of doing it yourself
Also where'd ya get that official SE desktop charger?

@ ethan: laquer makes it shiny, it is the top coating. primer is usually the very first layer and is like a 'basis' for the actual paint to stick to (especially usefull on hard-to-paint surfaces)
@ baz: desk chargers are avialable on Ebay

This question is for xpmillinium, or anyone else who knows alot about paints.
I was wondering what kind of laquer and primer I should get? Are there different kinds? I know that there is a laquer for wood, but is there one for metal? I want to primer the metal faceplate, then put two coats of black rustproof paint. Then I would lightly spray a blotchy coat of dark blue, to blend it in with the black, so as to give a tye died version of blackish dark blue. Then I want to put laquer on the top of it all (of course letting each layer dry individually) to make the surface smooth, like the black part around the screen.
I need some input from you guys. Is this correct? What do I use? Also, I'm in the US, where could I find it here, maybe? Thanks!!!

well very interesting....
Home depot has a new spray paint especially for plastic ie. outdoor furniture. Not supposed to scratch off. Yes I know the lower housing is alloy.
Ebay has severaly covers and both the blue and red oem covers also some metallic plastic generic ones in 10 colors or somthing like that.
Thanks for the info on changing the cover.....bookmarking for future ref.
