Ciao mdkia
The problem is not the actual price of the bike itself, but the taxes that the government put on all kinds of vehicles. Bloody vampires they are!
I am however going to Italy this summer ( by car with family, sadly not on my bike ) and rest assured I will indulge myself in every kind of italian cuisine!
Drive safely!

Hmmm... it's unbelivable, here we have to pay 20% of taxes for everything, for food, for cars, for motorbike ...but the price I wrote you is already the "taxed" price. Norway is not in Maastricht ...am I right?

That's right, we're not members of the EU. That is besides the point however, cause Denmark is a member and I think it's even more expensive there.

Tax is maybe the wrong word, it's more of a fee wich takes into consideration things such as weight, horsepower etc. THEN there's a 24 % tax on top of everything else. Sucks? You bet.

Any idea of how much a Dainese Ergon helmet is in Italy? I might buy one on my vacation, in Norway it's about 530 euros.

I have an R1 (1999 model, had it since new).
Personally I think it's well over rated. I don't think it handles well at all and the brakes are worse than my '96 ZX7R.
It's the only bike I've really had to fiddle with suspension and now have it turning quite well although it's still not 100%.
Anyone ridden a 2002 model? Is the handling truely better?

The model I was thinking about is the ERGON EVO 2 XTHREE
On the link you posted I found the Arai QUantum F for 444 euros, and if the prices are anything like this I'll save about 200 euros wich will buy me a lot of Chianti! Thanks for the tip!

Well, what can I say! But all is well with the world. Just done my first 2 trackdays of the year. One at Donington Park and the other at Rockingham Motor Speedway.
The 3rd one is booked and it's only July 8th.
I will confess to having rather an ache in my arms and legs after Donington. I put it down to a whole winter spent drinking beer and not enough riding bikes.

As for crash helmets, I have an Arai Quantum/F Chris Walker Replica. It's about 2 years old now and it cost me the equivalent of 570 Euros.
Damn fine piece of equipment. Tandem that with a set of Crowtree made-to-measure leathers and I am well and truly ready to 'Own the racetrack'.

I knocked together a GSX-R600 theme on Sunday.

If anyone has a request for any others. I can do them and make them available from my webspace. May become a site if I can find the time to do it and lay it all out nicely. May even become a wap site if...

Laterz!
Back in love with the Big O again!
