T610 and HBH-30 crackle noise problem |

Just bought a T610 (w23) and HBH-60 and they have the dreaded crackle problem mentioned in this thread. It functions OK, I can issue voice commands and the person on the other end of the call can hear me. But, at my end, the sound quality is very bad. There is a lot of crackling and some of the sound frequencies appear to be missing, making for a very "wobbly" sound. I am using the HBH-60 within a meter of the phone so Bluetooth reception should not be an issue. The signal indicator on the phone is full and, if I switch the call back to the phone, the sound quality through the phone speaker is fine. I have tried it in several locations (home, car, office) just in case there is some RF interference problem but the sound quality does not improve.
No one in Sony Ericsson Thailand knows anything about this issue so, if anyone finds a solution, please post about it here so that others can ask for the same solution.
Also, we all should make sure that SonyEricsson is aware that this is a serious problem affecting a lot of their customers. I have sent emails to three of their global support centers (Sweden (HO of Ericsson), Japan (HO of Sony) and Thailand (where I live). Hopefully others of you will also try to get the message into SonyEricsson, so that we can have a quick solution.
Regards
Peter

So, no answer yet ?
This is sooo frustrating when you know there is a major problem with a handset, you tell the manufacturer who throws a "deaf ear" - you tell the Network who supplied the phone - they also throw a "deaf ear"
SE (does that stand for Sh1T Equipment) or.. Substandard Equipment. |

I sent my handset away to Celestica on the 08-07-03 to see if they are able to repair the problem. But as yet I have not received it back.
As soon as I get it back I will let you all know....
I will be going to Trading Standards if they fail to repair it

Today, I let my T610 W23 update from R1A081 to R1L013. The noise in my HBH-60 has almost gone, and there are no more problems connecting the devices or loosing the connection during usage. So I can definitely recommend the update to everyone, at least to those of you, who live less than 5km from the next service point as I do And you will experience the other improvements too, especially the much better WAP-performance, easy to check with wap.t-zones.de.
Greets,
Flo

Well, its now 16 days since i sent my T610 to Celestica for repair. And guess what? Still no phone. I've phoned them twice to chase them up. After spending 50 mins today on the phone waiting in a queue i managed to get through. This soppy old bat on the other end of the phone couldnt tell me nothing except to say that they have the phone there, and has promised to find out what's going on and give me a cll back. That was 5 hrs ago!!

AT LAST !!!!!!!! T-Mobile have removed the phone from sale for the moment, below is what t-mobile are saying about it -
This is due to an issue at Sony Ericsson with this handset, which has led to the delay in these handsets being shipped.
I "guess" reading between the lines that finally they have admitted the problem exists. |

I have got my T610 back for the problem with HBH-60.
Guess what -they have upgraded the firmware and said that is was no problem with the phone but I´m going to get a new HBH-60 because it was the cause of the problem (in 1-2 weeks)!
Hmm with my T39 there was no problem with my HBH-60 at all, are they doing a thing to hold the information back?
It could be a problem in booth firmware and HBH-60... |

Time to invoke the powers you have from the Sales of Goods and Service Act.
[1] Go to the retailer you bought T610 from (it is their problem not SE)
[2] Inform have 7 days to get phone back to you
[3] If not returned demand full refund/replacement on 7th day
Although you may end up with another T610 with a crackle problem too!

A Sony-Ericsson headset must work well together with a Sony-Ericsson phone. Boy was I wrong. I guess I should have read this topic before I bought a HBH-35 to go with my T610 (W26).
The headset crackles like crazy and the other side of the line hears a lot of echo. Tomorrow I will upgrade the firmware and see if that works. Otherwise it I am gonna change it for a Jabbra.

I've tried the HBH-30 and HBH-35 as well as the Jabra BT200 with the T610.
Both the HBH-30 and HBH-35 were really bad. The Jabra is better but is still bad.
I'm yet to find a headset which works with my T610 and doesn't crackle.
I really feel that this is a phone issue which won't be fixed by buying new BT Headsets (believe me - I've already purchased three headsets that have the problem).
I've also had the phone firmware upgraded to the R1L release and it didn't make a difference.
Why can't SE just admit this is a problem with the T610 and provide details on how it can be fixed... Instead of us all wasting our time (and money) trying to find a solution.
