Thanks sahran/nobackup.

So looks like I'll have to get a BT dongle then, damn. I hope their cheap.

As for memory allocation: sahran, do you mean that it shows a 20kb pic only takes 20kb until you try to delete it? If so, then that might be okay, it might be a small bug in the software that shows the file to be deleted incorrectly. The easiest way to check is to try and take 2mb worth of pictures from an empty memory right? (No sounds/games/etc.)

a USB bluetooth adapter cost here in sweden 45 us dollar!

Thanks for that Sahran. That sounds like really bad memory allocation. As a programmer though, I'm sceptical about how much memory can disappear, it shouldn't be that much (normally on byte boundarys). This is considering the fact that it appears as 20kb on a computer. Would you mind doing the following to check for absolutely certain?

1. Copy all the contents of your phone memory (the 2mb one) onto a computer so you don't lose anything.
2. Take as many pictures as you can in high resolution before the memory is full.

If the total number of pics is <40, then there truly is a memory allocation problem (2mb/~50kb). If it manages around 100 (2mb/~20), then there is no problem except with the memory reader!!

I know this is a hassle so I'll forgive you if you can't be bothered

Hmm.. The "memory allocation problem" (as you call it) on the T68i, isn't actually a problem or a bug (well a problem for us because stuff takes more memory). The reason for this is not a bug or crappy programming. The images sent to the phone are converted to a raw format to increase speed when using images. That's why images/animations takes more space on the phone. You'll notice that when you first download an image to the phone it takes a while before you can actually see it. But once they are converted to the raw format the images are visible without delay.

I don't know if this "feature" still exists on the T610 though. Maybe SE has increased the cpu speed of the phone enough to let it convert the images "on-the-fly".

Raw images? Yeah, I suppose that would account for the large image sizes. In which case there can be nothing done about it!!!! Grrr...

I would still like someone to try and take as many pictures on an empty memory as they can to confirm this. Even if it is to see on average how many pictures can be taken.

Thanks for your reply ! So how come there's only 600k free memory when you goet the phone ?? What are the memory used to ?? For example how many k used to defaulted backgrounds, themes, games, MMS ??

So for pics taken with camera, what's the memory size actually the phone taken ?? When you go to memory status to view the memory the phone actually taken.

Are there any green status led on joystick?? Also is there shown blue led on joystick when bluetooth turn on ??

600K ???

That's about 10 pictures.

Ooooh, I really want the T610. But I'm not prepared to Master Reset the phone without knowing what I'll loose. I don't want to find out I'll have to log on to to download all the data profiles...

After Master Reseting my T68i, all my data accounts would be reset after I switched off (something to do with the Orange customisation I think). But it did clear up my phone, without removing the Orange WAP/GPRS settings!

I dont know why this is not the case on sahran's phone but, an SE official commented on the memory of the t610 in Greece, and stated that after software modifications, the final release of the phone would have 2mb, and i mean clean 2000kb, of free memory. The preinstalled items would take up other space outside the 2mb.

I basically agree with you all about the memory problem even though i do not believe it will be a bigproblem for me, it is a phone not a digital camera after all. Anyways, just wanted you all to know that there is very convenient way to upload images to sonyericsson.com. Then you just fetch the ones you want as you need them. I use this procedure with my T68i all the time. Just fetch a nice screen-saver ot Theme from esato or Sonyericsson.com when i want them. Why keep 15 Themes in the phone when it takes 10 sec to get them online. It works great for me! Still of course i would have liked the phone to have 100 mb or what ever but it is no a big problem. Use the WEB as your storage, its free!

Just a short question: does the T610 have the little hole to wear it on the SE neck-keyring? Thanks!

Yes it has a similar hole at the bottom like the P800...

BTW guys ...the size of memory used by a pic in the phone is dependable on the content of the pic i have pics which are on 20KB and others which are 48KB (all at same resolution) the size of the file reported by the phone and the file size after upload to my pc is the same...I freed 1MB on the phone just by getting rid of a bunch of "Aribic" mid files (Ringtones) i now have 1.5 mb free...now I am back in dubai i will make a backup of the phone to my harddisk and restest , so that I can find out what is the max memory avail...
