I think we're left to finding out if:
- it just happened that you're in a spot with no/bad GPRS signal
- defective hardware
hmm ... a few weeks back i had a problem with GPRS. i was stumped for a day, and can't find out what happened. called up CS and ranted about it, but they weren't able to help. so i was resigned to the possibility of a hardware problem.
out of the blue, i decided to take out the battery for a few minutes, and check out the contacts if they're clean (my real intention). tapos when i placed it back - viola - GPRS signal is back. di ba arnoldc and GPRS ? |

GOwin...
I'll try that... At this point I'm desperate to try anything right now... I'm wondering if Globe just screwed up in activating my account... My phone now can find the GPRS signal... It's showing the inverted "L" icon on top of the signal bars but it's saying "GPRS: GPRS unreistered"... the inverted "L" is not disappearing anymore...
Anyways... Thanks again man... |

My GPRS id finally working! It turned out to be that Globe screwed up. I called again this morning and told them the problem (again! ). I insisted thaat they check on the activation again and the CS was nice enough to double check. Apparently the globe guys just set the status to activated without really activating it. So they activated it for me and Voila! I've got GPRS!
Thanks guys for all your help! |

Just wondering...when does it say "This post was posted from a WAP device" and when is it able to detect which phone you were using to post messages here? 'Coz I've posted via WAP a couple of times and that message changed, without me changing any settings.
No urgency here...just wanna understand it. |

@yiz19,
I think it depends on the network and the gateway that you use. But (it seems to me) only non-:se: phone will always be called "WAP device"
I have tried posting using WAP from my PC. I got the WAP device signature instead.

@GOwin: Yeah, I read somewhere that it depends on the gateway you use. But the thing is, I didn't change any settings on my phone - and it's the same phone - but it still changed.
Oh, well...as long as it's working.  |

globe just reset their gprs settings.. try this, mine works:
on data comm--> data accounts--->
add GLOBE GPRS- APN: www.globe.com.ph
add GLOBE MMS- APN: mms.globe.com.ph
save and exit.
go to wap services6--> options8--> WAP Profiles2
add GLOBE GPRS-
CONNECT Using : GLOBE GPRS
IP address use: 192.40.100.7
save and exit.
then add globe mms-
connect using : GLOBE MMS
IP address use: 192.40.100.20
save and exit.
* you can also use SE gateway here by:
add SE GATEWAY-
connect using : GLOBE GPRS
ip address use: 193.95.167.178
save
then go to SELECT PROFILE6 and select GLOBE GPRS or SE GATEWAY
then out.... at main menu:
go to MESSAGES2--> MMS2-->OPTIONS5
Message server6--address: http://192.40.100.22:10021/mmsc
go to WAP PROFILE7--> SELECT1: GLOBE MMS
Hope it works for you... this is confusing.. |

This is unknown to others, but you can actually use wap with prepaid accounts but the first digit of the 7-digit cellphone no. should start from 9. Try it. |
