Dom's 1 VII unboxing video has been taken down. I think that would be the first time Xperia official video has been pulled off from their channel. |

It was a couch jump shot which kind of failed in the original videom it was slow to frame him once he was on the couch. This time it worked out instantly. |

video stabilization has always seemed a bit disappointing to me. there must be some trick to it cause some videos show really good results while others show shakey results. the AI mode seems to help a lot, but even without the AI mode, i've seen some reviews where results are quite good and others where they are just terrible.
in my experience with my 1ii, it hasn't been that great. but maybe i'm not choosing the correct mode or something.

Perhaps try setting video to full HD and set stabilization to highest? Also is your video shooting in ultrawide or in zoom mode? Ultrawide stabilizes most.

RAW vignetting is finally gone. If this video is to be believed they have improved RAW significantly. So far from why I've seen 1VIII is a worthwhile upgrade for 1V people who can digest aspect ratio and screen color calibration. 1VI couldn't achieve rich and soft colors of previous 4K display but from 1VII reviews there is improvement in that field as well. |

I was able to find a friend who will be in japan in june, so they can buy the 16gb/512gb model for me and bring it home.
now the question is... do i want black or green!??! and where am i gonna find a case and screen protector!?
I can probably 3D print my own case, but i'd still like a quality screen protector.
EDIT: looks like I can order a case from spiegen directly worse comes to worse.
ALSO... this is from the sony japan site.
The "RAM 16GB / ROM 512GB" models in Slate Black, Moss Green, and Orchid Purple are currently scheduled to ship "around late August 2025." Delivery dates are subject to change depending on the situation.

Thanks for the info!
No trip to Japan with other words?
Do you have a link to Sony Japan site regarding the "scheduled to ship"?
Since at least a couple of weeks ago there are tons of 1 VII cases and screen protectors for sale. I have already bought some cheap TPU soft cases. Have been using such since XZ Premium.

The 16 / 512 generated the most pre orders and orders surpassed xperia 1vi by quite a fair bit even though it's more costly. ( surprised those that really appreciate what Sony did) SO they are definitely going to be busy manufacturing

No trip to japan for me. But I have other options to get my hands on it. Will have to wait until August now though to get the duty free price.
here's the link to sony japan site for a SIM free purchase. if you scroll down, you'll see it in the color selection section. I just thought you should know since I know you placed a preorder with the site that would buy in japan for you.

I saw I can get the spigen tough case directly from their website for the vii. their awesome screen protector is much harder to find to get in the US.

that article incorrectly states that the high spec model has the same release date as the other models. I only just noticed the august release message yesterday though, so it is possible that when pre-orders started they intended same day release for all models and then ran out of initial stock.
Maybe if you preordered soon enough, you can get the 16gb model on release day while later pre-orders will get it in august. who knows. i didn't check every day so i'm not sure how long that august release message was on there.
it just makes sense to get the 16gb model especially with the new 6 year security updates.

finally i bought it from wonda mobile, the XQ-FS72 Dual SIM 12/512gb version from hong kong. Shipped today, arriving in 5 days. I too would have preferred the Japanese version with 16GB of RAM, unfortunately it was sold out and the waiting lists are very long. |

awesome! look forward to your review.
where were you looking for the japanese version that was "sold out"? afaik, you can only get it direct from sony and they just have their pre-orders at the moment.
