That was a bad enthusiast chop. She or he or whomever did that didn't study Xperia promo material good enough to make a proper tribute. After all Sony will not release a violet and red at the same time. Last time they had rose/violet/purple and red at the same time was Xperia XZ Premium but red was offered on the market later on. |

Sony won't be the first one to release a new model with 888. No surprises there. I don't think it means they never will. There's a rumor about sd870 too.
With Sony's portfolio it's unlikely they'll have only midrangers but Google did it. So it's not impossible.
I expect 1iii to have 888 but will be released in summer as usual |

If Qualcomm had plans to do like 2015 (two 8xx same semester) they would have announced already.
Of course there is no 870. And 888 was really going to be named 875.
7xx like Google and HTC would cap Cinema Pro.
No 4K@120.
I also doubt it can handle the 20fps burst + AF with weaker CPU.

Common sense says Xperia guys would't be there on event talking about 888 if they didn't plant to release something with it. |

Yes. And you find 888 and 690 on their server.
That's 1iii and 10iii for sure.
Looks like no L5. |

Honestly out of all Xperia devices L series made the least sense. I can understand overpriced flagship because there are not a lot of flagships out there but overpriced low end device is something I couldn't understand. Who did they sell L to? Was that the phone for their own employees or something? I haven't seen one person with L phone.
But that is Sony for you. That's how they compromised their VAIO business. I would like to remind you that VAIO since early 2000s was the pinnacle of modern day era laptops. Back in 2003 they had the best engineers and designers out there, even Apple wanted them to make VAIOs running OSX. Btw reason why Apple aluminum Macbooks became relevant is cause they poached the most significant people from VAIO division. Anyway Sony was self-aware of VAIOs success and that's when they started diluting the brand by introducing expensive but cheap hardware trying to milk the cow. So in the same product portfolio they had the most advanced ultrabook on planet Vaio Z and next to it they had low end garbage that was selling at premium pricing. How did work out for them? It didn't, they sold VAIO and kept only 5% of the shares.
Same thing has been going on for a while in BRAVIA business as well today. Their top of the line Z LCD and A OLED series are the hands down the most quality TV set you can buy but then there are dozens mid and low end TVs that are overpriced compared to Samsung and LG and don't offer any benefits over them. So those who buy expensive but cheap products from Sony are going to be disappointed because they will soon figure out they overpaid for it and that's how you catch the heat with the consumer. Xperia low end and mid range did the same thing, that L phone has always been a disaster for the price and Xperia 10/XA3 was such a pos disgrace and step back compared to XA2 Plus which was not that good to begin with besides sexy looks. Xperia 10 II did fix few things in the meantime. |

Maybe a more gpi focused soc from qualcomm rather than 888 as sony was at qualcomm's conference talkimg about gamimg rather than 888. With ps5 out they could be synchronising products to boost sales. |

Two SoC info found on their servers.
888 and 690.
No other from Qualcomm has stronger gpu than new 888.
There is no other chip beside 888 above 865+.
Otherwise it would be announced too.

What really gets me is why sony decided to sell off its battery business specially when they were working on lithium sulfur batteries. Could have given them a real advantage. |
