But then why call it the S5? Unless, of course, there's about to be a new line... But how much later are we talking? And if this is high end, will the newer flagship be a notch or few higher in terms of pricing, or will it be the cost of the S5 at launch price and S5 drop? And it can't be coming that soon if this is coming in April...

They may do it like they did the GS4 and GS4 LTE-A, and launch it as the GS5 Prime, either way I'm over it, bring on the Note 4, I believe that's where we will see the fresh new hardware, as I believe the Note series is now their premium brand.

Note 3 shat on every competitor by bringing 3GB RAM, minimum 32GB internal mem and 4K video, yet the GS5 comes with a slightly more powerful chip yet less RAM, less memory and lower video Res, Samsung's message is lound and clear, IMO.

They should have left it at the same size. I dont see this as a big deal though. Plus the phone isn't a major upgrade in any way.

S5 is using MSM 8974 AC while Z2 is using MSM 8974 AB. Technically S5 is ahead in term of CPU and GPU by a couple of Hz

I wouldn't trust benchmarks too much, after several manufacturers were found out to be boosting scores, why bother looking at them.

Also, this debate about which processor is faster which is based on benchmark scores are just a waste of time imo, simply because they are very much the same. I'm certain you wouldn't be able to tell which is which on actual usage.

Let's not forget that a highly efficient software is also important to utilize the full potential of these new dragons.

Dude, I might be reading it wrong, but everywhere says the S5 records in 2160p - that is 4K same as the others, no ?

Also, can I just add, that a while ago there was news that Samsung were going to release a more premium line with more premium materials in their construction.

Now if I were to take a guess, maybe the S5 is being released in April six months before the next iPhone. So what might come around October time ? a metal and glass clad new Galaxy line of phone ? with the 3gb of RAM, 64 bit cpu, all the bells and whistles Apple bang on about in their devices etc ?? Apple are by far Samsung's biggest competitor so makes sense to me.

I don't know for how long these companies will continue with the same numbering. Surely after 5 will come the iPhone 6, Galaxy S6 and so on. But surely that line of naming cant go on for much longer. What will we have in 10 years ? the iPhone 10 ? Galaxy S10 ?

Im just thinking what will be next.

And what about the chipset ? most places say 801, but a couple of places such as GSM Arena which I usually trust the most for accuracy says 800.
