at the time of death, the angel of death will be visible to the human and at that time it will be too late.

this short life is temporary and the actions you do will be accounted for whether small or big.

Chapter 99 named Earthquake states:

1. When the earth is shaken to her utmost convulsion,

2. And the earth throws up her burdens from within,

3. And man cries distressed: 'What is the matter with her?'-

4. On that Day will she declare her tidings:

5. For that thy Lord will have given her inspiration.

6. On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they had done.

7. Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!

8. And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.

Fair enough, if you want to follow it to lead a better life if you believe in it, but if you take it to seriously it becomes nothing but control. Believe and do what you want in your own space and time, but what I HATE is when you have a bunch of bigots, pushing their faith into your face. I find that rude and insulting. You live your life and I will live mine, I dont need you to tell me what I should consider believing in. That goes to Jehova witnesses, and when you have your fundementalist muslim extreamist, who wants Islam to take over your hole damn life and everyone elses, aswell as the rest of these people. I will believe in what I want to believe in.

There is nothing like "forcing" itself on someone in Islam. Indeed it is insulting and rude to force one's religion on anyone else and that is exactly what Islam teaches us, not to force it on anyone. I am pretty sure that if you ask the some of the converts here (e.g. Caspa) if they have been forced to embrace Islam, they will say no. Those people who force it are just like "black sheeps" in a herd and every single religions or group has them. And it is not Islam's fault that those people turned out that way. I am sure if you read the history of Islam, after conquering many places, Islam allowed the people from other religions to carry on their religious activities and prayers. That is the true Islam, not just what any "fundamentalist' presents to us. One of the arabic meaning of Islam is peace.

[Arabic 'islām, submission, from 'aslama, to surrender, resign oneself, from Syriac 'ašlem, to make peace, surrender, derived stem of šlem, to be complete; see šlm in Semitic roots.]

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/islam

How can a religion, who's meaning is peace give the teachings of violence. We should not judge any religion (whether it be Islam, Christianity or any other) based on the actions of a handful of people.

Many judge Islam on the Media, which makes them turn away.

but look at sister Yvonne Ridley, a brilliant example:

Indeed... Before I converted I learnt that you cannot make or force someone to be a Muslim or to accept Islam... Islam teaches that you have your own free will and that you should use it in all areas of your life...

People tend to only hear about the bad stories relating to religion rather than the many good things that come from it, thats the media for you... I know from personal experience... im nearly 30 and a muslim, was raised as a christian (my mums faith), became an atheist in my teens (my dads belief) and then an agnostic in my 20's... I've have had many different views over my life time and had discussions where i have stated the negative views on religion...

The most important part is the fact that man has his own free will and can therefore do whatever he wants, when he wants, in the name of what he pleases etc...

In Islam we may disaprove of what some people may do, but we are not able to judge others as everyone has their own free will and will only be judged by Allah...

RIGHT, BACK TO THE SUBJECT MATTER!

I think everyone needs to remember the actual subject of this topic, its not a religious debate, its simply what people think happens when we die... and nothing can be proven so we should all just share our opinions on life after death, or not as the case may be!!!

EDIT: Another point is that culture and islam have become so woven together in many societies that it has clouded true islam and made it into something it is not... therefore at face value, everything is equated to islam, and the vast majority of this is negative...

well said brother, lets talk about death as its the topic for it.

Please all read this, it has a message:

Chapter 75 - The Rising Of The Dead, Resurrection

1. I do call to witness the Resurrection Day;

2. And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil).

3. Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones?

4. Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers.

5. But man wishes to do wrong even in the time in front of him.

6. He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

7. At length, when the sight is dazed,

8. And the moon is buried in darkness.

9. And the sun and moon are joined together,-

10. That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?"

11. By no means! No place of safety!

12. Before thy Lord alone, that Day will be the place of rest.

13. That Day will Man be told all that he put forward, and all that he put back.

14. Nay, man will be evidence against himself,

15. Even though he were to put up his excuses.

16. Move not thy tongue concerning the Qur'an to make haste therewith.

17. It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it:

18. But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital as promulgated:

19. Nay more, it is for Us to explain it and make it clear:

20. Nay, ye men! but ye love the fleeting life,

21. And leave alone the Hereafter.

22. Some faces, that Day, will beam in brightness and beauty;-

23. Looking towards their Lord;

24. And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal,

25. In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them;

26. Yea, when the soul reaches to the collar-bone in its exit,

27. And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician to restore him?"

28. And he will conclude that it was the Time of Parting;

29. And one leg will be joined with another:

30. That Day the Drive will be all to thy Lord!

31. So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!-

32. But on the contrary, he rejected Truth and turned away!

33. Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit!

34. Woe to thee, O men!, yea, woe!

35. Again, Woe to thee, O men!, yea, woe!

36. Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)?

37. Was he not a drop of sperm emitted in lowly form?

38. Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did Allah make and fashion him in due proportion.

39. And of him He made two sexes, male and female.

40. Has not He, the same, the power to give life to the dead?

@caspa, but do we know we are going to die? What if science discovered the secret of aging? They might then find a cure for death! I agree it's EXTREMELY LIKELY that we will die, but certain? No. It is more certain that we exist than that we will die.

I think, therefore I am.

Right now, yes we do! Its a certainty in my life time at least!!!

I exist now and I will exist when I die... Just not in the same way as when I was alive...

I think both are certainties...

I think the least certain thing about life is whether there is an after life or not. (regardless of what form it will take)

And it is 99.99999999999999% likely that we will die, but there is that little tiny chance that someone discovers the elixir of youth, along with the ability to port into other universes so when this one starts to die we can go to the next!! Just like we don't know for sure the Sun will come up tomorrow morning. Just because it did yesterday and every day for the last 4 billion years doesn't PROVE that it will tomorrow - although unlikely it may go super nova tonight!!

However, our existence is certain because if we didn't exist we would not be able to ask "do I exist"

Well.. its just like this.. 200 years ago, it would have been impossible to even think of airplanes. There was nothing like a "computer" out there, electricity, almost all modern inventions are recent phenomenon.

I think, the same applies to "death". Simply put, death is a natural process where our cells cease functioning as a unit. There have been instances where scientists have "delayed" death or rather have extended the lifespan of some creatures with some tweaking. For example a kind of bug which had a lifespan of 1 week, had its span extended to three weeks which is equivalent of living us humans living 300 years! That of course is fiddling with nature.. but what is not? Did nature intend us to work on computers, build buildings and change the face of the planet? Virtually, everything we do is against nature. So why not fiddle with death too?

Guys you have got it all wrong.

I never meant that "Islam" goes round and pushing it in everyones faces. I just said how i hate it when religious people do it, and I used a fundimentalist as an example. Don't get me wrong I have no trouble with what people believe unless it don't put its opinions were it is not wanted. And that was what I was trying to get across
