Hey guys
Im not a muslim but the thread said you can ask questions aswell.
I know muslims are not aloud to drink as its forbidden in Islam, but I have a Lebanese-Muslim freind who does drink alcohol and I have been with him when he has eaten pork. He is not religious at all.
What are your thoughts on this? Im just intrested to know what more religious people think of this. He claims that he was not raised in a religious background, therefore he does no live much of a "religious" life. Don't get me wrong I think there is nothing wrong with that what so ever, its his life and his choices and I think he has the right to do what he pleases, but im intrested to see what other muslim people think of this.

KingBooker,
I'm not a very strict Muslim myself but Thanks to The Almighty I've always Managed to stay away from the Haram, which includes Pork, Alcohol and money/things which are not earned in the right manners..
And I personally know a few muslims myself that have bad habbits such as drinking, gambling eating from places like McDonalds that does not serve halal food etc. As a Muslim brother I try to make them aware of their wrong doings the rest is their choice as you say.. It's their life, they can do whatever they wish.
I try to avoid these people so I don't get influenced by their bad doings, theres nothing else an Individual Muslim can do in these matters other than to guide people to the right path. We have no right to judge them or to punish them of such doings as these people are only harming themselves.

@kingbrooker .. thank you very much for asking this question. Yes this place is to hang out and to ask questions
Allah has made it very clear for us in the Holy Quran what is right and what is wrong. As a Muslim, we are very much obliged to do what is right and to stay away from what is Haram. I agree with rule breaker that as an individual Muslim, we have the responsibility of telling Muslims to stay away from the bad things and to do the good things, and that is all we can do. We can only try to change their habits, but it is Allah who can provide the necessary guidance. I am sure you have heard stories about many non-Muslims converting to Islam. e.g. Yousuf Estes etc.
Having said that, Allah has mentioned in the Holy Quran that human beings are made with weakness, i.e. the devil always keeps them astray from the right path and takes them towards wrong doings. That is why Allah says that if someone commits a sin or does something wrong and after that he repents to it and promises to never do it again, Allah will forgive him and obviously He is all forgiving one. I would like to take this opportunity to express a Hadeeth Qudsi here ,
"O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it."
This is how great is the forgiveness of Allah, provided that we actually realize that we are doing something wrong and ask for repentance.
May Allah protect us from every sin, minor or major and put it in our heart to repent for our sins. Ameen Sum Ameen
Everything I have said is the best of my knowledge. If there is something wrong that I have said, please do correct me. rest Allah knows the best
Wasalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarakatuhu

1 "Jundub reported: I heard from the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) five days before his death and he said: I stand acquitted before Allah that I took any one of you as friend, for Allah has taken me as His friend, as he took Ibrahim as His friend. Had I taken any one of my Ummah as a friend, I would have taken Abu Bakr as a friend. Beware of those who preceded you and used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous men as places of worship, but you must not take graves as mosques; I forbid you to do that."
(Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers, Hadeeth # 1083)
2 "'A'isha reported: Umm Habiba and Umm Salama made a mention before the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) of a church which they had seen in Abyssinia and which had pictures in it. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: When a pious person amongst them (among the religious groups) dies they build a place of worship on his grave, and then decorate it with such pictures. They would be the worst of creatures on the Day of judgment in the sight of Allah."
(Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers, Hadeeth # 1076)

It would be a shame if the human lives his life without knowing who their creator is, then at the time of death they see the angel of death and realise that this life was issued for a reason and that God does exist, but at that time it would be too late, every second of this life will be accounted for, every penny spent will be accounted for and that day is getting nearer and nearer, Allah help us all.

2: Entering the House
(Sunan Abu Daood, Hadeeth No. 5096)
3: Entering the Toilet
(Sahi Bukhari, Hadeeth # 142 ; Sahi Muslim, Hadeeth # 375)
NOTE: Can also be read by omitting the "Bismillah In front"
4: Leaving Toilet
(Tirmidhi , Hadeeth#7 ; Abu Daood, Hadeeth#30 ; Ibn-e-Maja, Hadeeth#300)
NOTE: One should enter the toilet with left foot in first and leave the toilet with right foot out first

Salams,
A lot of confusion in my community about some documentary (Channel 4 maybe) that came on recently. It was about how some Arabs tried to change the Qur'an and the whole conspiracy surrounding it. A lot of people are wondering if their Qur'ans are the real deal or not.
I said that it is impossible to change any of the Qur'an because it cannot be bettered therefore, the slightest change will be so clear as it will destroy the verse. The Qur'an also challenges people to produce a better verse which cannot be done anyway.
I was hoping that someone with more knowledge could find some verses that may state that Allah will never allow this to happen and that such an act is impossible. I don't have the knowledge to make such statements so its better if I get some help before I start telling people.
Jazakallah. |
