why dont you just get put on as a 'named' driver on your parents insurence peeps - just for the first few years?!?!?! thats the best bet - providing you dont crash - if you do, dad will kick your butt
one other point... there are 'insurers' out there who will offer you a documentation saying your covered but when it comes to claiming you get shafted - so beware of anyone offering a very LOW amount..... bottom line, if its expensive - its for a reason no?! i mean therers a whole world of theories to whys its so expensive now........ woudl it be to maybe stop young drives becoming 'dependant' on cars -as we shift to newer times on low-zero carbon emissions etc.... also, the fact that a LOT of young people have accidents (the obvious one).....
anyone tell im bored today?! |

Very expensive that, i'd keep looking!
The thing is, Oldham isn't the hottest area to live in the eyes of the insurance company. If I typed in a pals address, who lives in Fatreg's old stomping ground, the insurance price drops by £100.

Yes but surely with 7 years no claims it should be alot less than that, hope you find something better, i just hope i can still get the same price when my sodding car turns up.

think I'm sorted now.
we're only getting 3rd party fire and theft so I can drive the car anyway as its covered for 3rd party on my comprehensive insurance.
also, my wife has 5 years + of named driver ncb and some companies will accept that. It doesn't give you actual NCB when you go elsewhere but it does give you the discount you would get if you had that level of NCB.
so... the car and policy will be in her name and my son as a named driver. This means I don't have to risk my NCB and she doesn't actually have any NCB to risk anyway.
phew! got there in the end! going to (hopefully) pick up a 76000 mile M reg Escort 1.6 SI tonight. Its got all the nice bits in it, electric windows, mirrors and a sunroof etc etc, long MOT and tax, full service history and all previous MOT certificates which prove the mileage, and all for £600... not bad methinks

My first car was an N-reg escort, i loved driving it and the parts are dirt cheap, its a great choice for a first car.
Hope he enjoys many miles of safe driving.

I don't really like car insurers. On my first car I bought at 18 it cost me 1100 for 1 months, the next year it's only about 80 quid cheaper, im hoping after 2 years it gets cheap.
I was looking to change my car to a merc c320, lol car is cheap only about 6k but when I checked the insurance I would have had to go to a under-broker and pay 5k a year and loose NCB
Check out my sales I am a mac fanboy . I will honor Laffens gift of P990 flip free avartar, but I sold the p990 |
