You mean it's gonna have an accelerometer. That would be cool but why wasn't it mentioned in the updated white paper? |

^^ The autorotating feature sounds impossible to me given the fact that it has no accelerometer(or SE/HTC had integrated one now?) but the Touch-Flo 3D like UI you're referring sounds like yet another UI development from HTC and SE team besides the Xperia Panel, Media Experience, 3D Fish Tank, new Camera UI and Some Clock Layouts. i hope there will be more SE/HTC-developed GUIs to beautify the ugly(imo) windows interface. they need to furtherly enhance the media department GUI as it was seriously marketed as a multmedia phone

158g weight of x1 is good if you compare to a communicator. But it is too heavy as a multimedia or smartphone and will limit the market.
Compare it with a N81. 18g more for a QWERTY, huge screen. I think thats justified
Compared to Diamond it is 48g more. Ask any person and they will say N81 weight is on the high side. So X1 at 158g will definitely put off some people esp those who buy it for use as a feature/multimedia phone and not a communicator. The weight will impose some limitation and it will unlikely to have a mass appeal like the N95 or Diamond.
Like I say if someone is looking for a communicator X1 would be very good just like E90 or Tytn2. If someone (those not wearing SE-tinted glasses) is looking at something to replace your normal (feature/smart) phone, I just can't see how the X1 has any advantage or appeal over the Diamond. Maybe those SE fanboys who jump at my neck would want to answer this.

full QWERTY? 5+ weeks (!) of standby time? brand recognition? but then I suppose you're not really interested in discussing the X1's strengths. right?
besides, comparing two unreleased phones is pointless. let the market decide which will be the more successful solution after they're actually released.

How do you determine if a $900 cell phone is successful in the market? It's definitely not going to be a huge seller. It will probably get alot of "oohs and aahs", then, "whoa!", once people see the price. I think the X1 will only interest a certain niche of folk. Those who want the absolute best, even if it is illogical to "spend that much on a phone" (as most people would think).
There really aren't any other phones to compare it to (in the U.S., it's key market) especially if the price is actually going to be around $900.

^ if it does well in its niche then obviously it's "successful", no? the number of units they flip is only interesting seen in the context of communicators (and do-it-all smartphones).
900 USD wont scare away its intended users. its quite comparable to what the E90 and TyTN cost when they were launched. SE phones typically always launch at quite a high price (which drops after a few months). the X1 will be no exception.

Just wait till you see the new Touch-Flo 3D UI Xperia X1 Panel interface, you will all forget about the htc diamond. |

Well Eldar tends to know more than most.
"more memory means that software is "heavy" and slow
They couldnt create stable sw without adding more memory. Unfortunately, it isnt mean that customer will receive more memory and more stable device.
It will out in November (in best case), and it will be problematic. RAfael from HTC which have all the same features (no SE logo on case) are working pretty good right now."
So after all that waiting you may aswell just get HTC Rafael when its out.
Sorry guys but I think the X1 is doomed.

I know I can be slow sometimes on the hardware field but since when does more ram make a device slower? Could someone explain this to me. |

Sorry Bavladon2 but for the moment it's totaly ridiculous to compare X1 (we don't know how will be the final product) with Raphael (that nobody except HTC developers have seen).
Is it necessary to remind that we do NOT have reviews of X1 but of 1 or 2 previews(!) of its prototype???
100 things could change until release date. And as far as I know when a company make changes in a device it is in order to improve it.
I'm sure that even if X1 had a 3Giga hertz processor and 2GB RAM you will say "it's crap" and that the Raphael with its (probable) 1000mAh battery is the best device in the world. hahahahaha
Criticism is good but hypercriticism is VERY VERY BORING.
Definition of hypercriticism by the free dictionary: "the practice of unreasonable or unjustly severe criticism; faultfinding"
"Sorry guys but I think the X1 is doomed." <== You think?
It's false Bavladon2. You believe, you trust Eldar's assumptions. That's different. Believing or not believing in something is having faith in it or not. Thinking about something is having a reflection, reasoning.
"I think the X1 is doomed?" is it a reflection? or a personnal opinion?
Good night...

Just went through the whole thing and I couldn't find any changes to the 2nd version. But why did they bring out the same thing twice?
Edit: @ Tigon
There is still a no to the auto-rotation.
