First phone with 192MB? I'm so excited with this phone I can barely contain myself lol.
No micro SD slot, what a pity

So no-one cares about that? Love the idea of this phone but this lack of a very basic feature kills it stone dead for me. |

Does it have handwriting recognition? Something that I cannot live without.
I guess it does (GSMarena). Anyways, does the finger friendly interface extend to all programs or do you have to pull the stylus out beyond the picture or music functions? Can you use your fingers in the Office applications for example? This is where the Touch failed. |

For all the 'Mericans: HTC updated the Diamond product page. There is another version with GSM/EDGE 850/1800/1900 and HSDPA 850/1900. Looks like I'll be importing this version unlocked unless Paris manages to wow me more. |

I'm still loving the X1, maybe I expected too much from HTC particularly since they knew well in advance about the X1, AND ALSO CONSIDERING THAT THEY ARE MANUFACTURING IT.
It's not what you do or even how you do it but in what state of mind you do it: Dups! 2009 |

^^^^As they are manufacturing it makes it a reason enough not to make it better than X1

@askd
I have to ask why do you feel that he 192mb of Ram is so necessary as whilst i agree 64mb of Ram wasn't enough and caused many problems for various devices even on different platforms.
Since i have had the newer generation of devices with 128mb of Ram i have never had an out of Ram problem not even close. Even with full Multitasking it never drops below about 20mb of Ram or maybe i just don't push my devices enough.
@kenboy
Sorry are you saying that it makes sense for HTC not to make their own product better than one they are making for someone else? As personally i would say the opposite is true.

@ Dogmann, far from the truth mate. I do not think they are some enemies collaborating just to trick one another in the end?
Did Toyota, Citroen and Peugeot trick one another when they made same cars? This is just a random example from the near past. Examples of companies collaborations are numerous and they all lead to the same points: development and manufacturing cost reduction, knowledge exchange, etc etc....
Also racing between companies is controlled... Why put something on the market that you will replace with a much better device in a half year time..
Longer they can keep one technology on the market more money they can all earn..
Something long term... Not a one night stand without condom....

As you know I like playing around with my phones, currently I have a few RAm intensive apps on my TyTn2, I have about 5-10MB free RAM from the 128MB. ALso although 128MB RAM is mentioned unlike the Symbian phones which give you about 90MB free RAM on the TyTn2 I get only 70, the rest is eaten up by the OS, TOuchFlo etc... so 192MB is most welcome. In SYmbian you dont have as many RAM intensive apps as in WM, like GUI replacememnts, J2SE emulators and so on... I program a bit on Java(J2SE) and the Je2SE JVM to test out my apps is a boon, although it hogs mem.

Hi askd,
Thanks for that as i didn't realise that you could use so much of your Ram from 128MB in which case i can now understand why it is a welcome addition and indeed does makes sense.

In case you failed to notice SE's moved into HTC's territory. This may be a "collaboration" but deep down it is direct competition and right now the X1 is a better product even though they are somewhat similar. The fact that HTC is manufacturing the Xperia doesn't mean that it is their (HTC) product they still need to compete with the "new kid on the block" who is actually shinning brighter than the veteran at this point. |

If on WM we did have 90+ MB free at boot up like on Nokia phones 128 should be enough, but since we have 70MB which reduces to < 60 after the caches etc.. load up, its really not all that great.
