i just brought w610i & i think that sound quality is lower than my older w800i (lower sound volume: not balace sond between middle, tweater, and bass: stereo widening even make the sound worse: only 5 preset equalizer avaiable). I've compared it with N70, and still N70 have better sound. ( more balanced sound, volume almost same). My older W800i far more supperior in sound comparing to N70, even comparing with N73ME. I don't know why they made even worst line up keep coming to us. After i had bad experience with my late P990i (made me think 1000 times before i want to buy P1), I think SE should launch better product from it's precedator.... do they ever learn??? |

At most points I agree with arunvc ...
I like SE phones but i dont see any REAL INOVATION in phone making, features ...
I expect SOME IMPROVEMENT from the high rated company (SONY), They have inovation in everything they make ... So they could do the same with mobile phones ... |

I agree with the disapointing of Se phones in 2007.
I love my W800 , it gave me lot of fun and pleasure , but when u see sometinhg like the n95 8gb you start to think in other companys phones... |

not everyone has alot of money and maybe they want a basic walkman phone or a cheeper cyber shot on pay and go u must if ur gonna look at phones like this state exacly what they do and whom would benift from them the most ie w200i a cheep relaiable phone with GPRS and a small aim n shoot cam good quility would be recommended for school kids etc
S500i for sum1 that likes to look sharp but not like a show off its a basic phone good for the profesional as a personal mobile or a company phone

Ok, so some of you are happy with your phones. Guess what, so am I, my P990 is now all that I wanted a year ago. A year has passed, and I see other manufacturers around me producing better and richer specs, from speakers to screen colours, to functionality, imaging and connectivity. The thing is, I'm tempted, and of course want to upgrade from my current P990 but what choice do I have? Tell me what choice do I have if I wanna upgrade when the best SE came up with is P1 and its only real advantage to me is the extra RAM which is NOT innovation but rather a necessity. So ok if SE wants to concentrate on the mid-range market, fine but damnit, why can't one, just one model encapsulate the innovative flair that they once had? I can hardly call K850 innovative. Sure it takes excellent pictures, but of course it does, it's built to be more of a camera than a phone and that's not innovation to me. Yes, I'm speaking on my behalf, you might not feel the same, and probably think I'm turning to the 'dark side' but make no mistake, just look at my signature below. It's also coming from a person who wants nothing more but for SE to grow. Innovation is something that takes people by surprise. So what surprise did you get from arunvc's list of SE range?

And thats why we sell most phones in my shop because they are useles? Please talk for your self because what you said is totally wrong. Here in Norway is as big or even bigger than Nokia. I often sell even more than nokia (nearly every day)

The list complains that K810 is nothing new compared to K800, yet I find K800 to be the best non-symbian SE handset I've ever owned or used. K810 is no better sure, but it's still just as good as the K800, and to put either K800 or K810 in the "useless" category is blind ignorance.
If I had the pick of all phones currently on the market, I would choose P1 for smartphone and K800/K810 for camera phone. The nearest competitor, N95, doesn't get a look in for me because it's 5MP camera is imho crappy even compared to K800 3MP, and it doesn't have a touchscreen so doesn't meet any of my important requirements for either a smartphone or a camera phone.
In a few months I will update my preference to W960/K850 (when they become available).

@max_wedge
There's reason for eveything
why i put K810i in because,K810 is a upgrade of k800i,after all k800i is a 2006 phone ,and in k810i There are some greater flaws In usablility the highly inconvenient joystick and the hard soft keys. After all a badly designed navigation solution can spoil the experience of using phone.
If k800i was announced in 2007 i surely wouldnt have put it there.
K800 to K810i
Should bring more inutiative and more user friendliness
But instead it downgrades the user friendliness and usability which k800i had before
So i think k810i justifies that.
So k810 is nothing amazing for 2007 with a critical downgrade from k800

After focusing on producing low-end and mid-end phones this 2007, can SE guarantee us that next year we'll see a more interesting portfolio, especially the high-end segment? |

Though i don't agree with all the specifics in arunvc's list, i do agree with the bottom line, that is we haven't seen anything really innovative from SE in about a year.
It's not that i expect them to engage in a spec race and cram dozens of features in a device whose battery will last half a day, but frankly i am also sick and bored with the releases of twins/replicas/clones of past successful models.
SE used to release at least one breakthrough model every year (T610, K700, S700, K750, and to a lesser extent, K800). Where's the innovation since then? I think they put the emphasis too much on widening their portfolio, but what good is 60 phones instead of 30 if so many of them are lookalikes? Reminds me of the Nokia lineup 2 years back, when they had like 80 models and you couldn't tell the difference, they were all clones. Now i think Nokia has streamlined their offer, and SE went right the opposite way.
Wish they got back to the rationale they used when designing outstanding phones like the S700 or K750, packing important features but not all, and keeping a high quality in each feature packed (i mean... the W880 camera... was it designed just to be on the spec sheet or what? if it's not good, don't put it in there, call the phone W720 and price it 100EUR less).
OK, i won't go into details, just that i kinda support the general idea behind this thread, though each particular phone debate would take thousands of posts leading nowhere.

"Sales, money, market share"! I can hear that coming from SE's boardroom. 2007 has been a sad year for SE. The title of the thread is actually appropriate. If you want more sales go for mid and low end sector and that's what SE went for. No innovation whatsoever, SE is lagging way behind in that department. |
