Guys, look at mine. Took a snap of a white background - look at the green smudge. Pathetic... Only hope the firmware will sort it out.

We'll just have to see, I guess. ..But it would make sense if they got it ready around the same time as the w960 will launch. Since the camera is a separate module and all. |

Just out of interest, has anyone tried changing the white balance settings to see if that makes a difference? |

I'm no expert on this issue, but have anyone considered the battery to be the source of this green tint? The battery is pretty close to that sensor, and it's on the side where this green tint occur. If it's the battery, I don't see how they could really fix this with a firmware update. They could always lessen the effect by automatically treat the pictures where the green occur, but the green areas will likely differ a bit between cameras/battery power. If it's the battery, that is...I'm just wild guessing |

if you look at the otherside, there is small blue tint as well.
By the way I should check if the zooming makes any difference. I think it will make.
And I did check(:P); even the tint on the screen disappears.

I wonder if this constitutes a defect serious enough for UK owners to return their phones for a full refund under the protection our sale of goods act affords them.
Sale of Goods Act
Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 traders must sell goods that are as described and of satisfactory quality.
If consumers discover that products do not meet these requirements they can reject them and ask for their money back providing they do so quickly. Alternatively, they can request a repair or replacement or claim compensation.
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Even with the green tint, I still love the P1i. What would you get in exchange that's better? The green tint doesn't bug me that much anyway. |

Zooming will of course make a difference, it's a digital "zoom" |

So it is highly a CMOS problem.

..well, you know.. today that means it's a software problem. You don't get transistors "sort of" working nowadays. So if it's something hardware, it could be a weakness on the light- sensors, uneven current, or some unisolated curcuit, etc. And that's the kind of thing you check for easily on beforehand. Or at least manage to isolate, like with the early k750s.
Or else it's a programming issue, or at least something that can be fully fixed with software changes. Which is probably what SE believes it is, and so on. |

Does anyone have a different/weaker battery that will fit? Like the one used in the prototype or sumthin'?

Actually guys, I've always thought it might just be a lens issue. Maybe one of the coatings was incomplete or what not. That might explain how zooming in reduces this problem. But then again, if this is a digital zoom (which I think it is), then all it's doing is "cropping" the screen in a sense and enlarging. Still I hope they can fix this soon. I'm going to contact Sony again to see if they want to handle it. |
