Why do Esato members hate the iPod? |

I guess it's all a matter of personal preference and experience.
I apologize for anything that may have been construed as offensive or insulting. That was not my intent at all. I simply wished to investigate and clear up what I perceived as bias against Apple by Esato members. I will say there is a lot of misinformation here about the iPod, and I hope my posts proved enlightening.
Furthermore, I am not a "Mac Jihadist" It is true, I greatly prefer the Mac to anything Windows-based. I also feel the iPod is a fantastic, though not perfect, product. In my experience-based opinion, the iPod is better for multimedia than mobile phones. I also feel phones perform very well (I wouldn't have bought and kept a W810 otherwise), though not quite as well as the iPod.
And remember: I am keeping an open mind about this. I have put my iPod away and used my W810 for everything, for over a week now. Just so I can better understand the prevailing Esato opinion on this.
Esato is a great forum and I have no desire to be driven from it, so please put away your pitch forks and torches... To borrow from Shaun (of the Dead), let's all have a pint and let this whole thing blow over

There's a complex phrase in GERMAN... Vaguely translates as, ehh..., oh yeah: f*ck it!
so: take it easy - some bad-ass arguing from all sides (myself excluded, of coursely)!

this is exactly right. I don't see why people go on about how itunes syncs only with ipod and that SE phones you can't create playlists.
1. You can simply drag and drop folders directly from the itunes folder into the mem stick mp3 folder which then gives you artist/songname pre-sorted on the phone.
2. If you want actual itunes playlists, this is possible too. Now, while I don't normally see any advantage to disc2phone, there is one handy trick, you can use it to synchronise an itunes playlist to the phone! Don't believe me?
It's done in a few simple steps, yes a little outside the itunes box but pretty seemless all said and done:
i. First, open itunes and save your chosen playlist as an xml playlist file somewhere convenient such as the desktop. (right click playlist, click "export song list", then select a location and click "save")
ii. Next, open disc2phone and drag the xml file from the desktop into the disc2phone "transfer list" window. This copies the itunes playlist items into the transfer list, all ready to be synced to the phone. Or indeed, any mp3 player that detects as a removable drive.
for those of us used to drag and dropping it's a simple painless procedure. Sure it's not as automatic as itunes, but it's close enough to make the little extra fluff of the ipod just not worth the loss of convergence advantages.
Plus I agree 100% with fatreg's audio analysis of the ipod versus other mp3 players (including and MD - though I do hate ATRAC - that's another story...)
So anyway, you can have the wonderful convenience of itunes id tagging and playlist management, and still enjoy the ability to get your itunes playlists onto the phone.

i don't hate the ipod... i just don't need it. my k610's sufficient enough for a music player.
