Nokia's E90 communicator Launched |

Hi all,
I really think this talk of what is or is not the most important thing in our choice of device is pointless. As is it not the fact that we are all individuals and all view the same products in a different light and have different needs and requirements and also priorities. Other wise there would be just one device that we would all buy and use and that would be it. I mean just how boring would that be? As the french like to say Viva La Difference.
Now back on to the actual topic of this thread personally i think the E90 is a smart looking device with outstanding abilities although it may not be for everyone. Although i am in awe of it's spec it is actually not a device i will purchase as it is more business orientated with Multimedia abilities. Where my current device the N93 is a Multimedia device with business abilities and for that reason suits my needs better.

I have been in expectation of the E90 for months - talked about it, dreamt about it, even saved for it. It meets and exceeds my expectations, except in 2 areas:
- no fax. I sorely need fax. I miss one or more fax calls every week with my current smartphone, the E61.
- cannot copy and paste text off the browser. For a device that is a credible laptop replacement, and with the kind of work I do, that hurts.
My old 9500 had fax, and I could copy, cut and paste text in the browser application. Oh, well. Its a great communicator, without doubt, but it just disappoints this old commie lover here in these 2 key areas.

Hi Fatreg,
No indeed not it is running a supercharged next step evolution that is S60 3.1 (3rd Edition Feature Pack 1) platform running on top of Symbian OS 9.2. so is in fact even better. Although all the currently available S60 3rd Edition 3rd Party apps will run on this so has loads of apps available.

Who knows - will Nokia release this phone before the N95?

In as much as I like the features of this device, I still won't get one when its released cos it doesn't have touchscreen. I wonder why Nokia stays away form touchscreen devices, seeing its the future of the mobile phone.

@amby - Since this E90 is PART and PARCEL of the communicator-series . . . it will definitely have NO touch-screen feature . . . just like with the rest of it's class. If it will have a touch-screen feature . . . I guess it's SIZE will not be as/this BIG, it's more of a mini-laptop (minus the printer) . . . but . . . yes, most of the PDAs that we see out in themarket have touch-screen feature

The E90 intrigues me. All that screen real estate would be awesome and it has a lot of other great capabilities.
Can anyone tell me whether you can touch type on the keyboard, or do you use it like a glorified thumbboard?
If it's possible to touch type on it I would seriously consider one of these.
And I wonder whether it's possible to use a bluetooth mouse with it? |

@dockhead...
eventually u would b able to touch type on it as its a qwerty keyboard etc...
From the few weeks i had one for i was typing pretty damn quick... not as quick as at home but close!!!
The build quality on this handset is amazin guys! It doesnt creak and once u click the screen into place it stays!!! And this was a proto i had!!!!

Nokias long awaited E90 Communicator will be available from July.
O2 has said it will be available in stores next month while The Carphone Warehouse's release date is to be confirmed.

Are this not having copy,cut,paste infos true? I dont need a fax, but a device like that should be able to copy stuff imho. |

@intelegent115
It does have copy, cut, paste just not in the Web Browser though is what i understand from reading the reviews. Every time i read a review i just want this device more and more.
It also does appear to come in 4 colours the Mocha and Red that are currently available and also Black and Silver for the enterprise market. Currently it looks like Expansys have only the black version so whilst they may not be the cheapest they are looking like the favourite to get my business will decide sometime Monday morning hopefully.
If you really want to know everything abut this device both good and bad i would advise reading Michel Jerz review over @My Symbian or the full review @ All About Symbian these should answer any questions you have about just how good this device really is.
