In reply to nickhills about software in t68
I have seen that kind of software with a friend of mine that works at vodafone, in the RF testing area.
He has a R520 with that type of software that measures signal, can force handover between antenas and so on.
His phone lost some functions in order to do that, and the R520 does not have java, so that rules out java.
What your friend has is probabily a special version used by providers. |

OK enough typing lets do something if you want it ask for it.
Surely if there is enough demand SE could change their mind about an upgrade or offer it at a small or discounted cost.
use this link and sign the petition to go to SonyEricsson.

Forget about this petition.......why would SE add Java to your T68i ?? Java was never mentioned in the features list, so when you bought your phone, you know it doesn't have Java.......what on earth SE need to add Java to T68i?? Its not viable, I wish they design a T68i sucessor with Java and poly instead ! They will go bankrupt if they need to add Java and everyone rush in for upgrade, SE, just design a best T68i sucessor will do !!
Anyway, I think SE has done very well in giving us firmware upgrade fixing and improving features of the phones....much better than nokia, they will probably launch a new phone when they add a little feature to the current model.
Forget about all this Java petition, it just ain't gonna happen......... in your dream !

@ Caff
I agree 100% with everything you wrote. Forget about Java för T68, it will most likely ever happen, and if it would SonyEricsson would be stupid as hell.
SonyEricsson has been very nice with Software upgrades for the T68 just like Caff said. Free updates with some new features all the time is not bad at all. Compare with Nokia as soon as they make a small new feature they launch a new phone and people have to buy a new one. |

agree totally, i wish people would leave this alone. the t68 does exactly what it says on the tin- if you want something better you're (a) going to have to wait till they make it, and (b) pay for it like everyone else.. |

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the T68i already has java capability - at least MINE does. I worked for a large mobile software company (the one that is hated bye all the carriers) and after unlocking my phone I was able to put a test sim in it, which contained a java card application we were writing. This was the first time we ran it on a T68, and it worked fine. If you write a java card app, it'll appear in the shortcuts menu (and nowhere else that I was able to find). |

SE should not just upgrade and upgrade the T68i... they should just instead release a new one!
