Arguably most members have joined because they are interested in SE handsets first and foremost, not because they are interested in other brands.
If we have a Nokia forum then there is no reason for us not to have a Samsung forum or a Motorola forum or a BenQ Siemens forum, etc. Once we are at that stage Esato is no longer a SE forum, it is a general mobile forum.
This forum has been been built upon a common interest in Ericsson and then Sony Ericsson handsets, not a common interest in Nokia handsets.
There is the capacity to discuss non-SE brands already. The only reason to add a Nokia forum would be if Esato were to be fundamentally changed, from being a SE forum to being a forum dealing with all brands.

I thik NO MATTER what fone brand THREADS they will be creating here . . . Discussion Threads will still top the LIST with most respondents/replies . . . but hey . . . I made notice that the 'oldies' of Esato are making a slight SHIFT from handhelds to other brands . . . !

@Meths
Tomato
The point is, its a lot more work. What if Esato does accommodate Nokia users. As well as the Sony Ericsson section you would also have to have a Nokia:
Accessories
General
GPRS, WAP. MMS
etc, etc
Also, what about the front page news.
That would be a full time job in itself. Posting everytime something about Nokia came into the news would treble the workload.
Apart from the news section, what else will Nokia users get from Esato that they can't already get.

Not to mention extra moderation, bandwidth, flame wars, and a loss of the identity on which this site was built.

why would we loose the identity of the forum? and yes, we will need more mods maybe, but here are many memebrs who are more then good for that job... more bandwith? yes, that would cost more of course. thatswhy i offered once ess ( as u remember ). imo we could create here the most respected site with all that knowledge, other brands incl

No way! members complain that they don't get individual phone forums... I remember various requests for a T610 forum, a K700 forum, a K750 forum etc etc... so a dedicated Nokia forum will not go down well
anyway, there is a very good "NOKIA user's thread." which serves this purpose very well for general Nokia discussion while the "Other Manufacturers forum" serves for specific model discussion

100% agree it would be pointless it is called esato for a reason "onlt take a sony ericsson"
Maybe somebody could make a new nokia formum called nato "only take a nokia"

or perhaps it could be called... "don't take a nokia"?
no, I'm using a Nokia atm, an 8800 but just as a radio.. probably the most expensive radio I have ever had!
but, in the same way that boba has repeated himself over and over in this thread, I'll reaffirm my belief that what we have now is all we need
