I guess the video res is low to protect the w900 and because they didnt release it a little earlier and on all networks. This phone isnt it for me and P990 isnt right either, I need something in between.

There just better be a good replacement for the w800 or it another brand unfortunately. And No! the w810 is not the w800's replacement. Im not buying the same phone twice!

Ill be eligible for upgrade in August so unless SE announce another phone this week itl be the k790 for me to be honest. Im not happy about the video recording but its a smal sacrifice for a 3.2MP camera. Before you make any desicions id read the very thourough review. Which looks at the design, functionality, UI, and camera plus loads more. Its the most consise report on a phone ive seen. Read it and then make up yourmind!!!!! And bearing in mind this phone is going to be quite reasonably priced it seems well worth it.

My upgrades due in August too, I guess a lot of us are, on here. I've read that review, Eldar's reviews are the first I read. Video capture isnt my only gripe though, I'd like to have seen a Today screen too, however QVGA video capture is a decsion they've made to exclude on purpose, by simply not putting in the software. I dont think there is a need for a graphics chip if the E720 did better last year. It has a lot going for it, like the RSS, Codecs, Stereo Bluetooth and Internet through Bluetooth.

I doubt they'll announce any more W's till after W810 is selling well. August is far, in the meantime I need to find an RSS reader for the W800

Nice point when you said that SE should focus on competing with OTHER brands. If SE really wants to get a good grasp in the mobile market, then they need to think more with the bigger picture in mind.

Perhaps one thing worth considering with relation to zoom requests - is that as these phones increase in mega pixels, they are continually removing the necessity of optical zoom.

For you see, (with respect to the final image), a 3.2 MP camera would be roughly equivalent to a VGA camera with 2x optical zoom, no?

And when the resolution of these cameras climb to say 6 MP, the output image result could be considered approximately equivalent to a 2 MP camera with 3x optical zoom, perhaps more.

It certainly makes sense for the device to do all the work with a chip, rather than with hardware that would no doubt have a rather large footprint with relation to the other components within the phone.

And really, I don't think I could bare to see the K series get any bigger right now.

I simply reckon that SE did not give higher video resolution because of the hardware of the phones, and because they probably believe that most people wont play the videos on anything other than their phone. Since the K800i can play captured videos in full screen, they probably think Joe Average wont be able to tell that the video resolution is so small - so why bother upgrading it ?

@ jasond - more pixels does not mean less need for optical zoom.

Optical zoom gives you the bonus of bringing whatever is in the viewfinder closer, whilst keeping the same high quality resolution.

Simply zooming in on a picture after its taken does not give the same results. You're simply cropping to a certain part of the same image.

Sure, you could say its the same thing, but are you prepaired to wait years until you can say your phone is capable of the same quality of zoom as a phone available right now that does have optical zoom, simply because your phone released in 2-5 years time has the megapixel score to even compare ?

And not only that, you'd need to edit every picture taken to get the same effect, not very convenient is it, when your friend can simply zoom in on a scene and capture the moment they want instantly.

etaab, Thankyou for clarifying optical zoom, but I am well aware of what it entails in comparison to digital zoom and the cropping process.

Convenience aside, my point still stands. And yes, it would be a fiddle to re-crop images on the computer in such a fashion, however unnecessary if images are just being viewed on the phone as is often the case.

Even for printing purposes, a 2MP image will show up fine at standard photograph dimensions. So there is of course some leeway for digital zoom. As we know - a great image it is more to do with lens and processor quality than sheer resolution.

Of course it would be better to have optical zoom in our cameras now rather than years down the track. As our 4MP optical zoom camera phone is not yet here, I offer comfort and food for thought in the meantime.

Is it just me or does the Z710 whitepaper lack any mention of Push-To-Talk? Something makes me think they have shelved PTT for this phone (unless I missed the reference of course).

its kinda funny when they compare the K800 to the K750 with regards to MegaBass™, it sez on the K800 whitepaper, the K800 has it... but the K750 doesnt... what does that mean? tho i can see MegaBass option on my player. has anyone notice this? especially those eyeing on the K800.
