I think of this dimension more as a playing field than a "punishment" or "hell". Yes it is baser and meaner, but it's fun!
Life on earth doesn't have to involve suffering. Many interesting discoveries can be made on behalf of God (why would this dimension exist if it has no purpose other than for a soul to "escape" the place by becoming enlightened?). The creator being created this place so we could explore the ideas, concepts, emotions that the Creator being can't experience (since they are disembodied). How could a creator be ALL KNOWING if they didn't have some way of actually touching "all that is"?
I believe all (each and everyone one of us) can walk this planet as a an enlightened Master like Jesus or Buddha, in perfect harmony with ourselves and eachother. There is no need for us to go anywhere. We can stay right here and be enlightened
At least, that's my excuse for wanting to drive a Ferrari and make love to Jessica Alba look alikes

This is my theory about world war 3. The US attack on iraq was just a kind of 'stage practice' for the main attack to be later done on china. The US , UK and australia combine forces and launch an attack on china. China, russia and the two koreas join hands. Simultaneously pak attacks on india. Rest of europe is divided. Half of them are on US's side and the rest with china/russia...... and when will all this happen.....
well, the script is just getting done...

I agree But just add in Indonesia... Muslim country with nuclear weapons!! Also IF that Saudi - American tie breaks!!! for watever reason...
That will be WW3!!!

Indonesia don't have nukes If they did my country would be buying Nukes off the US, without a question of a doubt. (Australia)

Exactly !! This negative energy that binds us also holds us in a kind of spell that makes our thinkig cloudy. We think on the basisi of what our 5 senses deliver to our mind. As discussed above, true enlightenment or knowledge is limitless, dimensionless. So how can we say that what we know is the complete truth when our thinking itself is being limited by the 5 senses alone.
Its only thorugh extreme effort and discipline that we can learn to control our senses and train them to be open to the universal energy that flows all around us.
Otherwise, its jessica alba and pamela anderson only!!!

Scary init? Atleast it is if you're an Arab. No wonder they don't trust Israel. No nearby Islamic state has fielded nukes themselves, and Israel have 250!
Bit of an over reaction I'd say |

All this discussion leads to me another "philosophical" question / thought.
What is consciousness?
does the brain produce consciousness, wich is believed by physical science.....does consciousness produce matter as is believed by dualists....or are we to lok elsewhere?..are rocks conscious? atoms? quarks?..the wind?.....or does consciousness rely on the human brain?? which would imply that only humans (animals) conscious.
Is consciousness a mental phenomenon or a purely physical one??

Isnt it the medulla oblongata that invents it, makes u aware of your suroundings and stuff?? so anything with a brain is conscious. |

What about plants ? They dont have a 'brain' . Are they conscious ?

Depends on the level of consciousness you are speaking of. If by consciousness, you mean on a purely physical level, then plants are conscious because they respond to external stimuli just as animals.

u rite, but can they choose not to respond?? |

Then your analogy should hold good for humans too. We also move towards the stimuli of better life. Place bread before a starving man, will he not respond? Block off our food, water, then do we not die ? You can say humans are intelligent, where as plants are not. But, consciousness, as per your implication, applies to both.
