bogdan1978buc.
What do you mean? You want a small device with 3G phone, wi-fi, pda, radio, camera, mp3 player, querty keyboard, (etc) and on top of that you want a GPS ?
Get real. Bluetooth GPS are getting cheap.

- what is the speed of grps and edge?
- if hermione has wifi, does that reduce the need for edge?
edit: decided to search.
"(Edge) can carry data speeds up to 384 kbit/s in packet mode" , while "A realistic bit rate (for GPRS) is 30–70 kbit/s." - wikipedia

It doesnt need EDGE because its a UMTS 3G phone, which is superior to EDGE and has better rollout coverage worldwide.
Check me out on Instagram ! search for etaab ! |

Speeds of EDGE depend on your device & network congestion & availability of bandwidht. Clarification: Device (what class? 4/6/8/10); Network (are a lot of users making calls - they get priority, or using data on the same tower?); finally bandwidth: MCS-9 coding is the best a provider can choose for EDGE/EGPRS.
I have a class 4 Nokia 6620 and I rutinely get 80kbps -100 kbps (my max would be 118kbps since its only class 4 EGPRS device).
Agreed though, bogdan1978buc since you have WiFi there is no need to worry about no EDGE; of course unless WiFi is seldomly available where you live.
The built in keyboard annoys some. But this device more resembles the highly successful BlackBerry's (RIM based in Waterloo Canada). Remember with this device retrieval of data is handled best with the 5 way scroll wheel. But input entry of data is best with a thumb-board. Some pro P900 users may fair pretty good with text entry for email; but for writing office documents or lengthy emails (if you ask why 1 would do this, then you dont need/deserve a Pseries device) on a handheld keyboard is king! I challenge anyone with a P800/900/910 (the latter without using the thumboard) to frequently enter 70+ words/min via a stylus or on-screen keyboard; the standard one not that Frog junk!
Personally I was hoping for a more professional look - black & silver or even Black & Red accents or Black & Blue accents. just hoping the design gets overhauled. The RIM 8700 due for official announcement is sick looking. I dont believe this photo on pg1 is the final design as it was rumored over 2 months ago. |

new unconfirmed pic from
http://www.p950.com/
The most interesting one shows the back of the phone
http://www.p950.com/images/stories/p950_3.png
The phone does seem to be smaller than P910.

Remember that the Blackberry and Treo (whose form factors I hate) are a lot larger than the P-series. So they also have larger keyboards. I'd like to see any Blackberry user type at the same speed using the P910 thumb board, and still hit 70+ words a min, specially if the documents contain frequent %, email addresses, numbers, and accented characters.

As long as UIQ 3 allows you to use the keyboard to activate OK and Cancel buttons or tab between them as you would on a PC then I'll be right happy.
If it doesn't, it would seem that this is a glaring omission. To me its going to be all about the little things than the large changes. |

Those pics look a little suspicious - i think i will wait for the official release and then make a decision on wether i like it or not (but i think that it will not let me down) |

Why do all these rumour threads have pics of blurred phones, taken with 0.3MP cameras... Also why would Sony Ericsson go back to usin the old P900 keypad? I dunno... why did'nt you add to this rumour topic?
