So we're getting rid of ten models and come back with different SKU's
Is the reason lack of inventory of the 2K screens or just they want to cut cost for the international market...
I hope this does not mean the international version will have 16GB ROM or 3GB RAM...
I'm not sad that they went for 1080p as we can handle it hardly in 2015, but to the idea of different spec for different market.. I just hate that...
The only reason that I'm looking for 2K screen is because all other competitors will move ( or already moved ) to this.. so Z4 will look like outdated compared to the rest... there's a lot of people will say this has 2K screen and that doesn't even thought they don't know what does it mean... like some peoples seeing 1080p screen then laugh as non of these 1080p are retina
I hope Sony isn't doing this

I still think the Z4 will have a larger screen for a world wide release. Those images of the two panels were taken at different times rather than side by side, for example the bezels look to be the same size which makes it look like they are the same but I've just done a similar thing with the original Z and the Z2 (the top and bottom bezels are almost the same) and if you take 2 photos at a similar angle as the photos they look the same size yet as we know they're not.
Xperia Z - 139 x 71 x 7.9 mm
Xperia Z2 - 146.8 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm
the difference between 5.2" and 5.5" is only 0.67 cm on the diagonal.
I can't post the pics I've taken due to some bugs still with the switch to france, but I will post as soon as I can just to show how deceptive those shots are.
However here is one image I found on Google that shows at a strange angle the Z and Z2 look the same size. and the image was taken at the same time unlike the photos of the Z3 vs Z4 panel.

Wow, the whole line-up (minus Tablet Compact) gets renewed? CPU was expected, RAM was also kinda expected with older rumors pointing to it. Screen resolution, well, on the one hand I'm glad they don't participate in this stupid resolution race, on the other hand they give a competitive edge... Is the QHD version also going to have a 5.2" or rather a 5.5" screen? Because I don't know, if there are any 5.2" QHD screens in mass production. Nonetheless, I'm happy that they stick with 5.2" for the 1080p version, though I still would prefer 5". Well, you can't have it all !

Exmor RS™ IMX230
So this might be the 1/2.4" sensor ramu was talking about. This looks much more believable to be in the Z4 than the rumored APCS 1.5" sensor.

The design is similiar to Z3 but the bazel will be different.
Z4, Z4C and Z4U will be available in the 1st half of 2015.
What about battery ? Even a rough estimate would do |

Chances are the new sensor (if used in the Z4) won't include OIS and continue to use Sony's own Steadyshot tech which for me is good enough, however it may not go down to well in the reviews as it's almost certain the LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6 will have OIS, HTC are more than likely to be dropping the Ultra Pixel tech for a more conventional set up and the original M7 had OIS so chances are so will the M9.
Is OIS a must for people in a 2015 flagship, or would you be happy with software based stabilisation ?

@kurtdean I agree with you 100%. Wonder if the G3, Note 4 and iPhone 6+ users will agree.

^^ with OIS the benefit for sony would be for still, especially low light stills from what i can see. steadyshot is for video only.

Back in 2012 the Sony Xperia Z I believe was the first smartphone to use 1080p video with HDR, anyone know if 4K video with HDR is already available? if not then maybe another world 1st for Sony if the new sensor makes it's way into the Z4.
EDIT - the IMX214 sensor has that function, not sure if any phones that use that sensor actually support 4K video with HDR though.

why don't you complain about US Verizon and T-Mobile's own version of XPERIA? besides, no one is stopping you from buying XPERIA with different specs |

Because carriers now has the power to control what they want, if Sony was as powerful as Apple, then they will set their own spec for them.
