@Angel: Kpele o, I had the same problem with MTN at a time, I had to keep swithching positions to get a signal. My guess is that some BTS's haven't been activated to provide GPRS.
@Pxthomas: Send an sms with the words wapgprs and phone make/model to 184 to receive Vmobile settings. I have used Vmobile gprs in Benin, but can't tell if it reaches Asaba and Warri.
@Abu: I guess someone from NEPA oops,...PHCN was reading my post, and decided to prove me wrong. For the first time in like 4 months, I have light in the evening, and its been on since morning except when it went off just before the storm this afternoon. There's hope still, yes?

Would you marry someone who was HIV positive?
Would you allow your Sis or Bro to marry someone who is positive?
Singles and Married, your responses please.

@Abu, I have finally decided to get an M-Tel line because of the speed you quoted.

okay, okay!!!!! i've removed it!! but it is a bit educational on the spread of HIV in the world (especially SOUTHERN AFRICA!!!! any bite from brix?)

@coola: i've seen HIV- people get HIV+ from thier partners, even with all preventive measures taken. I wouldnt encourage a HIV- to marry a HIV+. but alas, love has its ways of making you do its bidding.

@area: just letting PNF see the dire situation.

@pxth: why are you always labelled as a new poster?

@abu: I never disputed the fact we've got an Aids problem in SA...The differences between SA and Nigeria are that when you get infected and you live in an urban area you can go to a clinic and receive free Anti-Retroviral treatment.
Forget about what Thabo Mbeki and our Health Minister says about ARV's...they're available and generally people have access to these medicines.

If by some chance I find out that I'm HIV+ tommorow, there's no reason for my life to stop

@brix: Free retro-viral treatment?? In naija? That is something I have to check up!!! When my son was being delivered at UMTH I had to buy everything from surgical gloves umberical clamp to syringes to saline to the bleach to be used to clean the O R. I’ve never seen analgesic given free. Unless things have turned around in the battle against HIV for the better, I’ve never heard of any free drugs anywhere. Has anyone in PNF heard of free retroviral drugs in Naija? if so lets give the Ministry of Health and the OBJ administration a round of applause!!!!!!

@all: was reading the thisdy with a caption "Alamieyeseigha's Health Deteriorates". why is it once any big-wig gets arrested and detained they are suddenly sicklers!!!! qouting the paper:

"The embattled former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is suffering from hypertensive heart disease, coronary artery disease and diabetes mellitus, according to a medical report made available to THISDAY in Lagos yesterday.
The medical report prepared by Barnes Hospital Lagos, and sent to the Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, said the former governor "will require an urgent coronary angiography with possible artery bypass to forestall sudden death.""

if these people were so sick why do they run for office?

I heard it last year... but it will be one of those 419 promises. Ppl still pay for ARV's. This reminds me of a column titled "SO WHAT HAS HAPPENED? ....A HARVEST OF BROKEN PROMISES" that appears daily in Punch newspaper on Page three. What they do is pick out something from the date last year and check if it has been done.

From the Punch column, I have deducted that only about 10% of the things we are promised ever get done. Our Government has perfected the art of lying to us. Free ARV's is one of many.

@Ben... welcome.

@ALL ... I am happy to be back to MTN GPRS from my home PC... Max 7.0 kb/s, UL 0.2kb/s and DL 1.0 kb/s ....I owe Mamba a bottle of Coke.

@benc: welcome to PNF!! feel free to jump into any discussion.

@coola: what are you thinking about FW? correction on my unified license list: its Starcomms, Intercellular, Multilinks and a new one that the name is just at the tip of my tongue...... something like pestle or prettle or the like.

@pxth: read an editorial on our space programme and i'm beginning to see the 419 in it. unless the distortion is from the writer, we have people in china reading aerospace tech. by 2030 we would have by the hon (sic) minister's estimate we'd have 1000. and all of them are being labelled "astronauts" whether they are trained as astronauts or are rocket scientists or metallurgical engrs. they were also talking about sending nigerians to the moon on satellites but im sure that was due to poor diction.

MTC/Celtel has bought 65% of Vmobile for 1 billion dollars... MTC is a Kuwaiti Telco. I am not sure if there will be a re-branding.... I need to check if all the Celtel networks use the same brand names.

@Abu... I am thinking of MTS since Starcomms has not arrived Abuja.

@Area... Congratultaions on leaving us for wifi. I think this is the year for many of us to go on the net with broadband or wifi. I am hoping to get ADSL in my office soon. Bye bye slow (free) GPRS.

@All My HIV question still stands o...
