need 6"+ phablet with 4k screen, wonder if they can render everything in 1080p and scale it to fit. Only 4K video playback will be play in native res. |

Your source's info sound more believable to me then huyi's.
1080p for international and qhd for variant sounds so... 2014. it would be really inappropriate for a 2015 flag in terms of spec race of a company that is trying to survive in a tough competition. "no more then 76mm wide" indicates a larger display since z3 with its 5.2" is only 72mm wide.

Z4 is probably known specifications. CPU 8994, sensor 2070! 1080P.5.2 inch display is the international version! US version of the display is QHD! IP6 / 8!
I don't think so.
Not saying it would be disappointing, I just believe these Z4 Specs are not very likely.
Z4 is almost like this,, Overall height to be shorter than the Z3 point |

So, LG's gonna release the 5.0 update for the G3 starting this week. Perks of having just a few devices, or because they don't really care about updating their other non-flagship devices anyway. Knowing Samsung, they might release it by December. HTC, meh. So would Sony be able to release the update ASAP? If not, hopefully that "early 2015" statement doesn't mean anytime between the 1st of January and the 1st of January, 2016.

If the Z4 received a decent bump in specs, same screen size in a slightly thinner and shorter frame then that would be commendable, for a start. I think shorter bezels would make it even more attractive.

I would be totally fine with the Z4 if it keeps the 1080p screen @5,2" but with smaller bezels. SD810 SOC along with 4GB RAM (let alone for marketing purpose), 32GB ROM, better camera (OIS!) and a slightly bigger battery. |

Yep, I see no reason why anyone shouldn't be fine with these specs.
BUT it would be a marketing suicide.
It would mean the same screen resolution as 4 previous Sony flagships, same camera resolution as 3 previous flagships and same screen size as 2 previous flagships.
The Z4 with a 5.2" 1080p screen may have the best battery life and performance, but for a normal smartphone buyer (99% of sales) it wouldn't stand a chance against devices with 5.5" 2K screens.

Only apple has the luxury of ignoring some of the competition spec race. sony should not repeat their mistake like with z1 display. marketing don't always fully equal actual use and Some bump in spec has subtle changes so qhd is a good thing and should not effect battery life much as the latest phones with s805 like note 4 and s5 lte-a has long lasting battery life with qhd. plus, they don't have sony battery optimization+s810+android L. manufacturers shouldn't worry much about battery life by the look of things, they just need to keep optimizing it, increase capacity, implement new battery tech, etc. |

apple doesn't ignore. apple is the one and only creator and everyone is just copying apple... according to some people.... |

Apple is in the category of its own. Nobody competes with them, even samsung does not have the luxury, let alone sony with its 2% of android space. So why bother looking all the way up there? |

@supercoolman
I'm not a fan of these people either.
@Ebato
Because it's a good example. they aim to be "one of the top 3 mobile manufacturers".

I know it was mentioned a few pages back but anyone think we should start next year's thread anytime soon. We only seem to be discussing the Z4 and the next possible tablet and phablet anyway.

Interesting that 45.5% of the poll think that FullHD is a too small resolution.
