K750 / W800 Firmware Overview |

Thank you Deeko1. That was driving me mad, can't believe I didn't realise it was the phone keypad we were supposed to use. It's usually the simplest solution (I'd already tried it on 2 different operating systems and went through all the drivers). So simple, now I can rest.
After all that, with all the potential bugs in this release I think I'll wait for the next firmware update (luckily my K750 has no bugs (yet)). Reviewing photos is pretty slow but liveable compared to the other problems. |

Camera is proper dead... :-( Used the service menu tests and all works except for the camera! It just wont load / open the program! Only upgraded as i was having probs with my HCB300 (sound cuts after 7 secs). Why do SE devices seem to have such poor bluetooth when its Ericsson's technology?! (my P900 decided to be invisible at all times even when set to visible).

I got a bit behind with this thread, but I have just caught up again. So it would seem that SE have pulled the update from the SEUS, presumably due to the quite serious problems. Perhaps we'll see a new version in the near future.

If you are going to use the Sony Ericsson Update Service to update your mobile phone, how do you know, in advance, prior to update, which firmware version is available?
And how do you know, except from browsing the Esato Forum, when a new firmware version is available?
I can't find any information related to firmware versions on the Sony Ericsson Support Website.
Thanks in advance!

You dont and you dont..... It checks your phone and uses the appropriate sw version... (and then fucks it up!)

I was trying to update the firmware. Its the first version.
Went to SE site and tried to update. I launched a pop up and told me that remove the phone from USB, switch it off and press C while connecting to USB and update will resume in 15 sec.
Done that. one i press c and put it to usb, it come up and asks me my sim lock ( so it starts as usuall) and the pop up does nothing but sit there saying that i should not do anything with phone. I tried twice but I think its not doing anything.
Does somebody has this error. how to solve this one.

I'm still having trouble updating the firmware. I have unzipped all the drivers before using SEUS. Then when i'm about 87% complete a blank error window pops up, and i press it, then it tells me to "Remove the battery and re-insert it again" then i press ok and it says an error occurred and tells me 2 START OVER.
Also what is the "hold c" procedure for? the firmware update itself or the USB drivers for the k750?
Thanks

No I did not try EU3! Only EU4 seems to have no branding at all. I want to try the same thing as Bart_tv.

If you look at your \Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\software-data you will notice two files, a large one which should be the firmware and a smaller file <1mb which I assume it's an ID type file which allows the updater to work properly. I was able to download EU1 from the site you sent me. I will give it a shot and keep you posted. Thanks! |

My friends, IT WORKED!!!!
I was able to switch to HL1_125952-EU1-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002 from HL1_125955-HONGKONG-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002
I did the exact same thing as Bart_bv, however, my phone was unbranded. Perhaps that's the reason for my success??
There is one catch, however, my customization file is still HL1_125953-HONGKONG-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002, only because I did NOT have the respective EU1 file.
I would greatly appreciate if someone with EU1 firmware would send me the file located in x:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\software-data (The small file, NOT the 10mb one)
Thank you very much and I look forward to a reply soon!

You do not have to worry about this. The SEUS will decide which firmware to download for your particular handset.

Just to make you aware. There is another firmware update due from SE.
I have just received a email today as I have noticed that there is a problem of handling the calls on the phone.
This is the email i received today. regarding this issue.
R1J xxx was just released to stop the phone from crashing and to stop the sheer amount of phone being returned to SE. However most of the uk networks have asked for the updates to be stopped until the new one appears.
Dear Mr. xxxxx
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.
With regards to your enquiry, the new software update for the Sony Ericsson K750i will be released imminently. The problems that you are experiencing should be addressed with this update. We will contact you as soon as the software upgrade is released. We apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused.

so it just remains to be seen whether the 'imminent' update is going to be allowed by the networks rather than recieve a pithy 'sorry you can't update here' error message... I was lucky, apparently, to get my orange phone updated when I did, I find today that its been blocked (according to most people here) by most networks.
the next question now is why it was rushed out and not fully sorted prior to its release?! more to the point what have the networks done (individually) to cock each handset up?? muppets! |
