it isn't possible. you carry a number of baskets (x) withh 100 apples in each basket. at each step (y) you lose a number of apples equal to your baskets (x). that number must be 50 or greater. so...
100x-yx>50
(100-y)x>50
but there are 100 steps so...
(100-100)x>50
0x>50
it just isn't possible |

Can I just carry 50 apples without the basket?
That way there will be 0 baskets, therefore, 0 apples to give to each of the 100 guards. I will just give the 50 apples directly to princess.

the way it is discribed there is also no way to get parts of apples, because you can't carry baskets that aren't full. This riddle just doesn't work.

Oh, I have a question about the first riddle. Hope I'm not disturbing you.. I'm not English, so forgive me please, but what does it mean: 10 TO 10 = 9.50 ?
Sorry, but I just don't get it ! |

that means 10 minutes before 10 o'clock (time) which is 9:50.

I got the answer to the apple riddle -
The knight just has to take two baskets each containing 100 apples. After 50 steps, 100 apples are gone, so 1 basket can be discarded. For the next 50 steps, he has to give one apple from the one basket that he has, so he'll be left with 50 apples
Wish this was real, i would have won the princess's hand
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence of your attempt !! |
