at a certain point in time, people who chose their religion because they were born into it will go to heaven eventually.

we also believe that all people (except for a few specifics) will go to heaven, but they will burn in hell for a longer period of time.

E.g. even the most purist Muslim will burn a bit before entering heaven they say.

I don't believe in any god - so does that therefore mean I will go to hell by default - no matter how well or good I live my life?

I don't believe in a God either. One doesn't pray to th Tao nor does one make sacrafices to appease the Tao, the Tao is impartial, it does not take sides. It simply is.

Taoists believe that this life is an illusion, a manifestation of the Tao. When we 'die' we rejoin the Tao as it naturally exists without the illusion of this existence to cloud things.

Sadly yes... any one who does not believe in Islam.. will automatically be delievered in Hell... for eternity. For us Islam.. we too will experience Hell (hopefully not) to wash away our sins and suffer for our sins.. b4 entering Heaven..

all im saying is... read the Quran... it states what the future to come.. its like a newspaper of the future to put it in understandable simple english..

@O2

The interesting thign is that Taoism does not prevent anyone believing in what they like with regards to an afterlife. It would simply be another manifestation of the Tao, just as this world is.

@scotsboy - I think I prefer that Tao/Buddhist way of looking at things.

@O2 - surely Christians would go to heaven too, considering it's the SAME GOD that Muslims and Christians of various denominations all pray to!

I'm afraid to say I tend to see religion as a form of control, invented by someone pretty earthbound. And it has worked well, and helped keep people on the straight and narrow for thousands of years, although now people are sceptical or abandoning altogether the traditional belief systems. And we are now seeing more selfishness, greed, and materialism as a result.

IMHO I think it is time that mankind took responsibility for itself now, we should be responsible for our own actions rather than delegating them to some mythical 'higher power' or hoping that this higher power will help us out of the various fixes we manage to get into.

I would say that if religion suddenly was 'out of fashion' and no longer practiced there'd be many less wars, but we'd simply find something else to fight over, it's human nature

@Sam

Responsibilities for one's actions is an important part of Taoism. As I said before, the Tao is impartial, it simply exists. One does not pray to the Tao, one takes responsibility and seeks to accomplish one's goals one's self.

The Taoist learns to respect nature and the natural flow of things. When something bad happens the Taoist does not pray for divine intervention, he accepts that that is part of life and knows that from bad good surely follows.

A key concept is Wu Wei, whereby one does by not doing. Simply put, one goes with the flow.

God to us is Allah.... Christian believe in Allah?

the thing is... when we die we will be place somewhere... but once all mankind died (judgement day/end of the world) we will meet in a large area of land.... like a field and the day is as hot as tho the sun is metres away.... but pure Islam will be shaded by clouds above... then there they will reveal all ur doings on earth, questions will be asked such as, did you pray 5 times a day? did u pay zakat (tax to the poor). Who is your God and Messenger of God? Once done.. they will give u the Quran to hold, If u take the Quran with ur left hand, you know that you will thrown to Hell, If u take the Quran with ur right hand, you know where you want to be...

Christianity, Islam and Judaism all worship the same God.

Yes but do you follow his teachings? Like what he stated in the Quran and the Quran only, which is finalized by the last phrophet Muhammad SAW.

@O2

Personally I don't since I am not a Muslim, for that matter I am neither Christian or Jewish.

I'm quite sure Chrisitians and Jews would say that their Holy Books are the final versions and that one must believe in them to go to Heaven.

@O2, no, if you are not muslim, it doesn't mean you will go to hell for eternity. You will just go to hell for a longer period of time than a Muslim.

Muslims still go to hell to pay for their sins, but not for long.

A muslim who is really a muslim and does bad things, will also be guaranteed to go to heaven but will suffer in hell for a long time.

As I said those who are born into a religion and 'brain washed'(sorry for that term it's the best I could think of) will also go to heaven but go to hell first because it is not their fault for choosing the wrong path because they were not given a path to choose from.

Again, I think the specifics are those with not faith in God or something that represents God and the Jews and those who worship the devil etc...

oh and GOd and Allah is one and the same, I'm surprised you dont know that we believe in Christianity and other religions as well.

@scott, its funny because many Christians dont know that we believe in their religion and they are not taught the basics of Islam, although we are taught the basics of Christianity.
