Yeah I agree Bono, it was actually quite surprised when (before the new firmware) when I turned it on because my S3 had a lot less lag.
Typical case of software not being optimised on the earlier models. My X S had the same issue when I first got it then Sony brought out the firmware update.
What FW are you running now? I'm on XXUAMDE.

Hmmm... I wonder if the laggy FW is the one most networks used when branding the phones? That would explain a lot.
Mine is also unlocked/unbranded as I bought it from a Samsung retailer, and I have zero lag and no overheating as well, phone is running beautifully, but not all are lucky as us and I'm starting to think it may be carrier branding.

Tsepz_GP, I have wondered about those issues myself and I am sure branded phones are the ones struggeling. I bought mine sim free and have no problems with lags or over heating

Yes I had issues with my branded Lumia 620 but no such issues with my new unbranded one. Even though the branding is limited on WP it still has a little so seem to be the same

Mine is a SIM free version no branding what so ever. The lag isn't massive, you just notice it sometimes backing out of apps and flicking through the menu. It has improved since the firmware update.
Btw I am running: I9505XXUAMDM
I would be interested to see the changelog but it doesn't seem available, as I said earlier my observations are:
- Storage has increased, used to have 7GB taken by by system, this is now 2GB
- New wallpapers
- Camera app said "updating camera firmware" when I used it this afternoon but I don't know what they've done to the camera. |

Bono
I've got the Octa core, I9500.
Yep, even with minimal branding these carriers can truly F-up a phone, I'll never forget my SE W900, it was ruined by Vodafone branding, so was my K850, luckily I had learnt to debrand by then.

Exactly! Btw, do you still have the Note2, or has the GS4 taken over as the main phone?
Rickster
Oh okay , it must be a matter of release FWs then, anyway glad they are sorting it out. So that means you have round 13-14GB free for user, yeah?

I'm so glad the Jelly Bean memory restrictions and Google Play movies, music storage issues are being brought to light, Google are trying too hard to force Cloud Storage down our throats, yet not everyone has the data speeds to take advantage of this.
Effectively every Android user with a 16GB internal memory phone is going to suffer sooner or later with storage as JB simply does not allow storing apps and games in SD card, unless the developer codes it correctly. This is why I've been saying Android phones need to launch with a minimum of 32GB internal.
