IMHO the HOX is better overall than the GS3. But I still chose the GS3 for one reason only: ExFAT, the file system for larger SD cards which it allows files larger than 4GB - useful these days when HD movies can be quite a bit larger than that.

At the moment, the GS3 is the only Android phone on the market with official support for ExFAT. I'm sure unofficial support can be had with rooted phones and custom kernels. But I use my phone just as much for business as everything else so I cannot afford to experiment. It will be a while before I start playing with custom ROMs. Maybe during my vacation...

Edit: Come to think of it, ExFAT is not needed if the phone lacks a microSD slot. So I guess this is the actual reason why I chose the SGS3 instead...

Also dont forget about the user replaceable battery.. very important to any Android owner.

I flashed the latest aosp rom (the one with Jelly Beans) and makes magic on my SGS3

Should be getting one of these on Monday as my work phone upgrade... Using the Gnex at the moment and really love it but think I'll sell it and get myself an N7 to go with my S3!

Better believe that I'll be rooting and whacking a custom ROM on it the very night I get it! Preference will be AOKP (as per my Gnex) or CM10, but any AOSP is preferred over stock... During the day I'll give the stock ROM a try, but Touchwiz wont get a look in at all, it'll have to be Nova launcher on stock...

I'll be able to participate again as there's no Gnex love here!

Depends on what your definition of 'have' is etaab!?!?

It's in great condition, fully boxed with charger, headset and an official extended battery with back cover... Currently running the latest AOKP nightly, so JB 4.1.1 buttery goodness!

But as I said, thinking of getting an N7 with the funds...

Well according to GSM arena the SGS3 will be getting JB sometime during their Note 2 announcement. Then comes the long wait for my operator branded update.

My soon to be 76yrld gran mother got a pebble blue 32GB Galaxy S3 this weekend, been setting it up for her and teaching her how to use it she sent her 1st email on it today after i showed her, she isnt bad with tech, she had a BB8520 Curve before and is very computer literate, but i was suprised at how well she coped with the S3 when you consider how the Android haters bitch on about it not being user-friendly, im also enjoying using it along side my S2, been interesting past 3days, i must say, its a great phone, feels better than the S2 in hand and the UI is even more fast and fluid, but at the same time i dont feel like im missing out on much. I took the S3 with me today when i went to get one of the cars washed, used it for 2hours solid and in the end i felt that other than the screen and newer UI its like using a bigger S2, great phone though, i wouldnt complain if i was given one, but cant totally justify buying it.

Its the best skinned Android though, followed by Note and S2, the other OEMs just havent caught up with Samsung at all.

From GSMArena Galaxy Note 2 article.

'Finally, some good news for the Galaxy S III users out there. The Jelly Bean update for the flagship smartphone is almost ready and will be released alongside the Galaxy Note II at the Samsung press conference on August 29.'

Lucky buggers.Hope the SGS2 follows soon afterwards.

Glad the JB update is imminent as that's the one thing I'm dubious about, since its release my Gnex hasnt seen anything but JB!

The release will do wonders for the development community as we'll have access to the Samsung binaries so all the current AOSP/CM/AOKP issues can be ironed out.

Gonna miss the no button design too... But this phone is a beast so looking forward to life with it...
