You can compare those photos by seeing them in their full ORIGINAL size and checking the details and noise level.

I do not recommend reducing compression beyond 1.2 MBs fpor 3 MP pics as it never showed visible differences after it.

Thanks.
As you maybe know I'm making a Cybershot Camdriver for the W705...
I don't use any compression. I've removed that code and I've increased the buffer size from 1472KB to 2200KB, but that's off topic in this thread.

By the way, great work.

I looked a bit into witchkings driver and found out, that he did not changed the 8MP buffer size (def. 2800k).
An older camdriver i've seen had 3500k here. Will it have any notiveable impact on picture quality if we raise the buffer size "cam_ss_jpeg_buf_size_7 = 2BC000; // 2800 KB buffer for 3264x2448 SS" ??
Or does leaving out the amounts for "JPEG_MAX_CODE_SIZE" (and the other entries) the job of achieving max detail?

I compared my c905 defailt pics with some other cams and it DOES too much compression (or whatever)! Many details are lost on trees or lawn.

If the detail isn't very good, it would/could help to increase the buffer size.

After succesfully managed to backup my camdriver und language files on CID53, I tried the xperience driver and fiddled a bit with the settings. I could not see a difference when raising the buffer size, nor does the new driver seem to have any impact on the compression quality. Unfortunately shots are as blurry as before and still below the quality of some competitors or even previous camera handys from SE. Colors/sharpness seem to be much better now and therefore I will stay with it. Of course I do also like the manual settings!

If anybody wants to know exactly how to backup camdriver files, ask me or visit the following link. You have to do it via "customize_upgrade.xml" and you HAVE to use exactly this path: "IFS/settings/camera/camdriver0.dat".
The xml belongs to: "tpa/preset/custom". Backup files will be saved to "other" folder on the phone.

Example of customize_upgrade.xml:

German website:

If you do not know where some of the files are/belong, look into the "shortcuts" folder of "CodeClaw DB3210 CID53 File Xtractor 2.0".

@lightangel
Can you post some of your comparison shots to which you are making a conclusion that the C905 is not as good?

thanks

Yes I'd be interested to see comparisons in the photos you mean. I still have the original camdriver from the latest firmware and it doesn't touch witchkings driver for colour, sharpness or quality.
DMs driver was renowned as the best no question but witchking has taken it further.
So show us a driver thats better. Let us download it a try it.
