about the 100 percent crop comparisions -

You guys keep posting unfocused shots of the opposing phone you dont like! How biased is that?

If you want to compare fairly, make sure you compare two fully focused shots!

Some of these reviews are really useless - they post an unfocused shot of one phone or the other and say it has terrible quality, when it only takes an idiot to see its unfocused. Why not mention in their review the camera was not as reliable to get a decent shot in that certain environment?

The difference is very marginal IMO, quality is not much better than eachother!

Just go and take a look at the K850 photos. At FULL size all of them look fuzzy and blurr (due to noise infestation). I think you should blame the K850 camera instead of the photographer

Hi all

Well if you really look at the situation it is one group of fans that insist the K850 is quite simply the best which is what they stated before it was even released. They some how manage to totally ignore the majority of reviews and cling on to the couple that support their case. They also mange to dismiss all their fellow SE users and fans that are having lots of problems as all down to branding and any other justification they can dream up. Plus of course the famous SE mantra it will be fixed with the next Firmware yet again.

Whilst we are happy to say that the N95's camera is good and that is enough for most us and accept it is not the best camera in the world or perfect.

Sorry but one set of people are now really beginning to look very desperate sad and deluded and it's pretty obvious who they are to.

Marc

@dogmann,
yeah well, you're right,
but that'll never ever ever ever ever change! that attitude, no matter how tedious you find it, and how frustrating it is, it's gotta be useful on some level of evolution, otherwise that attitude wouldn't be around anymore...
it's like people voting for whatever crook their parents voted for...or worse (?) voting differently just to be a "rebel"!!!
so, you really have to tackle this thread at a more genetic level! and I meant genetic...not geneRic

Hi

Long time reader, first third time poster. =)

GSM Arena have posted a nice camera comparison between the Nokia N95 8GB, SE K850i, Samsung G600 and the LG Viewty. Whilst this thread is only concerned with two of the above mentioned phones, it is still a valid comparison.

http://www.gsmarena.com/5_megapixel_faceoff-review-191.php

There is a hitch though. The shots are labeled A,B,C,D with no hint of which letter corresponds with which phone. They will however say which letter is which phone later on, but for now, the images have no name next to them. And don't bother looking for EXIF data either.

So basically have a look at the comparison and see which ones you like better. And then when the information is revealed, the superior model will be evident. This eliminates the bias factor which seems to affect a number of posters when they see the model which the image was shot from.

The i-mobile 902 would put all the other camera phones to shame. But the problem with the 902 is that it's not widely available. The Far East and some parts of Southeast Asia is not enough. Everywhere else is only through gray imports with no warranty coverage.

Yet another comparo which shows K850 photos didnt perform that well at all against all the other 5Mp camphone....sigh

[edit] Viewed at full-size, K850 photos are so "flat" (i.e dont show depth very well) compared to N95 and N82.

I dont wish to add flames, but good is very subjective.

What is good may not be good for others. For casual users who dont meddle with photo setting and only need to print ocassionally, the K850 pic certainly is not shabby. This type of users may rather buy the phone for outer appearance (fashion) or compatibility to previous phones or peer preasure.

N95 is certainly produces more vibrant color and may appeal to many casual users too. However some may find the color is over-processed (a little fake) and the smudge on details is unreversible during editing.

No one absolutely right or wrong.

Sorry if I did not read that conclusion before as the thread is really long

I think this conclusion was posted mostly to calm the thread so its not a bad thing to post the reminder

as for good... well, phone cams will probably never be as good as digital cameras and you can go to digial camera forums and see these exact same comparison discussions going on (nikon vs Sony etc) and so its clear that brand loyalty is going to cloud some peoples judgement

I was happy with pics from N95 and I am still happy with pics from K850, but then I don't examine them in minute detail I guess but many family and friends I forwarded pics from these phones to commented how great they looked and wanted to know what digital camera I was using!

GSMArena.com has not yet posted the answers to the 5 MP blind test. Most comments vote for phones C and A as the best. I have a feeling that one of the "parties" fighting it out in this thread will be disappointed when the answer is finally given. The photos from phones C and A show less noise (i.e. more forceful noise reduction) so I would bet that neither of these are the K850i.

Before they put K850 into the arena of 5mp cam phone war they should wait first for it's firmware to stabilize. specifically the color reproduction algorithm and the flash sync. it's decieving when a neophyte phone user saw GSMArena's comparision declaring N95 winner on color reproduction or N82 winner on flash when K850 can do better than it does once the colors and flash sync was fixed later on. i myself doubt the N82's flash being more powerful than K850 as the latter have some issues with the flash sync that makes night pics darker than N82. and another thing was that N82's flash on composed pictures evidently shows excessive artifacts that speaks for the use of extensive boost for the Flash ISO just to make N82 flash images appear brighter and better than K850s.
