Has anone upgraded to the last firmware of SE P990i and stopeed seeing the Kernel Exec errors. I have upgraded to the new firmware via SE's service center and yesterday hile I was logged on the internet it through me out with a kernel exec error.

I've had it twice while using Opera. Opera's memory requirement still doesn't agree with P990's memory management. Since the upgrade, the only times I've seen "Low memory" warnings was while starting Opera. Opera will refuse to start, "Low memory" warning appears, apparently the OS does some kind of memory cleanup and the second time Opera will open.
Still a lot of work to do SE ...

I already said it, iīm having ALOT less problems than before, and also saw to friends of mine avoiding selling the phone after instaling the new firmware + format internal drive + avoid restoring backups, and they had quite worse experience with r3b01 than me

I had 3 reboots and about 6 kernel errors in my usage of the phone since the 2 of January, and before i had at least 1 reboot every week or so, and the kernerl errors happened alot

But there is alot for SE to correct yet, i agree, and specially i donīt get why there are these different experiences with the p990...for instance i see people talking about reboots when getting calls, i never had this, ever! Also, i see people talking about reboots quickly after updating, etc, all things i didnīt experience, and that i see others didnīt also

SE should give a look to this, and not just the memory problems, all users should have the same experience

Right now I just had a reboot just by turning on the phone. It went to the SE logo and then it just restarted to enhanced performance. Come on, give me a break

Havent been reading this thread for some time now, and there is something i found out few days ago. I have moved some applications/games from tools to e.g. entertainment. And it only stays there for some time; then it goes to tools folder again. Then when i had to restart my phone the files were where they should be; but only for a minute or so then they went to tools folder again.

Few days ago i was surfing net via WiFi and i have experienced some very wierd problems. The phone stopped to response but only from bottom line above. I could click the task manager, "arrow icon".. but when selected anything from the opened windows nothing wanted to start. Believe it or not i couldnt even turn the phone off using the button!! I had to pull out the battery. Not to mention that i only get some sort of stability using pre-installed SE themes. Anything else can not be concidered a "working phone".

Those are just two problems i have encountered a few days ago. Video playback can be avoided if you change volume before playing it. And also some other problems mentioned in this thread before.

I have decieded to wait till next FW and see how the phone will act after updating. If next update wont show some better results from previous i will be forced to sell this unused potential; regardless how much i love this phone and have hope in it.

I agree with both of these. I also have much less problems compared to before the update.
I did the format+master reset routine before the update, so theoretically the basic phone should be pretty much the same as yours and from what I've been able to follow our P990s almost act the same way. My "Yes" reboot only happened once, so I can't say it is a consistent problem.
I think to be able to compare the phones, all users should do the format+master reset routine and avoid restoring from backups. That way we will have a clear indication of what works and what doesn't.

Hi, Guys,

Do you know why I cannot update CDA: CDA162008/64 R3A01 it says I have the latest firmware.

I am not sure which country this phone was issued to...

Anyone know of any service centres in Central London? Will see if I can get some answers for my Orange P990i.

The Carphone Warehouse will flash your handset under warranty, free of charge, regardless of whether you bought it from them, and they have service centres in many of the larger stores. You can find your nearest one on their website:

Obviously back up your data first!

Why do they do it for free? Is there anything that we need to show them to show it's under warranty?

It helps if you bring your proof of purchase which shows the date, but there's also a date of manufacture (build week) inside the phone on the label, near the top right-hand corner - for example, mine says "06W37", which means 2006, week 37. So even if you don't have your receipt, you can show that the phone is within its first year's warranty by looking at this label.

At this time all P990s should be under warranty. Theoretically (!) all official SE service centers should provide service to P990 regardless of location and proof of purchase, perhaps only checking for reported stolen phones. However, we all know the rules of economics work otherwise

Actually, from personal experience, you cannot recieve service from any SE service center. Depending on where you purchased the phone (P990 to my knowledge), that is where you will be able to receive service for your phone under warranty. And sometimes the problem is, if you send your phone to the original country where the phone was purchased, the SE service center may not send the phone back to anywhere outside of that country. It's a huge pain, I know. I lived through it. There's a blurb in the manual about this, under the warranty details.

I just read more previous postings in this thread, if you are taking it to a nearby SE service center in the country you purchased the phone, it should be alright. =)
My situation was frustrating... just thought I'd let people know.
